HJR___ COMMENDING JAMES H. SANFORD ON BEING INDUCTED INTO
THE COTTON RESEARCH AND PROMOTION PROGRAM HALL OF FAME.
WHEREAS, it is with immense pride and pleasure that
we recognize James H. "Jimmy" Sanford on being inducted into
the Cotton Research and Promotion Program Hall of Fame, an
honor recognizing individuals who have made significant
contributions to the Cotton Research and Promotion Program
and to the cotton industry in general; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanford was formally inducted at the
Annual Board Meeting of Cotton Incorporated held in St.
Petersburg, Florida; and 
WHEREAS, Jimmy Sanford, a fourth-generation cotton
producer from Prattville, Alabama, has played an
instrumental role in formulating farm policy and has been
part of every farm bill discussion since 1981; he is also a
staunch champion for securing agricultural research funding;
and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Auburn University, Mr. Sanford
has held the role of Chair of the Alabama Cotton Commission
since its inception over 30 years ago; a past president of
the National Cotton Council and Southern Cotton Growers, he
currently serves as President of Autauga Quality Cotton
Association and as Chair of Choice Cotton, all while
managing his 4,000-acre family farm; and

managing his 4,000-acre family farm; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanford and his wife, Dot, have been
blessed with three children, Susan, Catherine, and Will; now
therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That upon induction into the
Cotton Research and Promotion Program Hall of Fame, and in
recognition for his outstanding leadership, service, and
endless contributions to the cotton industry, highest
commendation is hereby accorded to James H. "Jimmy" Sanford,
for whom a copy of this resolution shall be presented with
tribute and esteem.
