15	15	HJR___ COMMENDING JAMES H. SANFORD ON BEING INDUCTED INTO
16	16	THE COTTON RESEARCH AND PROMOTION PROGRAM HALL OF FAME.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with immense pride and pleasure that
18	18	we recognize James H. "Jimmy" Sanford on being inducted into
19	19	the Cotton Research and Promotion Program Hall of Fame, an
20	20	honor recognizing individuals who have made significant
21	21	contributions to the Cotton Research and Promotion Program
22	22	and to the cotton industry in general; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Mr. Sanford was formally inducted at the
24	24	Annual Board Meeting of Cotton Incorporated held in St.
25	25	Petersburg, Florida; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Jimmy Sanford, a fourth-generation cotton
27	27	producer from Prattville, Alabama, has played an
28	28	instrumental role in formulating farm policy and has been
29	29	part of every farm bill discussion since 1981; he is also a
30	30	staunch champion for securing agricultural research funding;
31	31	and
32	32	WHEREAS, a graduate of Auburn University, Mr. Sanford
33	33	has held the role of Chair of the Alabama Cotton Commission
34	34	since its inception over 30 years ago; a past president of
35	35	the National Cotton Council and Southern Cotton Growers, he
36	36	currently serves as President of Autauga Quality Cotton
37	37	Association and as Chair of Choice Cotton, all while
38	38	managing his 4,000-acre family farm; and

69	69	WHEREAS, Mr. Sanford and his wife, Dot, have been
70	70	blessed with three children, Susan, Catherine, and Will; now
71	71	therefore,
72	72	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
73	73	HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That upon induction into the
74	74	Cotton Research and Promotion Program Hall of Fame, and in
75	75	recognition for his outstanding leadership, service, and
76	76	endless contributions to the cotton industry, highest
77	77	commendation is hereby accorded to James H. "Jimmy" Sanford,
78	78	for whom a copy of this resolution shall be presented with
79	79	tribute and esteem.
