1615 HJR___ COMMENDING JULIE FIKE SAINT FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO
1716 THE ALABAMA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
1817 WHEREAS, it is with profound gratitude and sadness
1918 that the Alabama House of Representatives and its staff
2019 recognize employee Julie Fike Saint upon her retirement
2120 after nearly 40 years of devoted service to the Legislature
2221 and the people of the Great State of Alabama; and
2322 WHEREAS, Julie Saint started her career with the
2423 Alabama House of Representatives as a part-time typist in
2524 the Enrolling and Engrossing Department on Tuesday, February
2625 5, 1985, and was swiftly elevated to full-time employment as
2726 a Data Entry Operator II in the same department on May 17,
2827 1985; and
2928 WHEREAS, in the short span of less than three years,
3029 at the age of 23, she was promoted to the position of
3130 supervisor of the Enrolling and Engrossing Department and
3231 has remained in that position ever since; and
3332 WHEREAS, her career has spanned the terms of four
3433 House Clerks, six House Speakers, eight Governors of
3534 Alabama, and an astounding 88 legislative sessions; she has
3635 seen thousands of bills cross her desk needing amendments
3736 incorporated and bills prepared for presentment to the
3837 Governor; she was a critical contributor to the very first
3938 legislative computer system implemented by the Alabama
40-Legislature; and

7170 WHEREAS, Julie Saint has been a "Mama JuJu" to nearly
7271 every member, employee, intern, lobbyist, agency
7372 representative, or even a visitor by giving her time and
7473 money to keep an endless supply of snacks in her cabinets
7574 and by bringing countless culinary delights (most famously,
7675 her original and delectable Tiger Butter) from her kitchen
7776 to feed anyone and everyone who walked into her office; and
7877 WHEREAS, whatever members and staff needed, Julie had
7978 it; from an earring back to a large or small safety pin,
8079 holding hairspray to Tylenol, lint roller to industrial
8180 super glue, she had it all and was always willing to share;
8281 and
8382 WHEREAS, armed with an endless supply of two-dollar
8483 bills, she was always one of the first employees to
8584 volunteer to assist in the many charitable efforts taken on
8685 by the House staff, such as helping pick out and purchase
8786 presents for underprivileged children at Christmas or to don
8887 an outrageous Halloween costume to garner laughs from
8988 visiting school children; additionally, she was always
9089 helping organize and carry out a variety of staff events
9190 that took place throughout the years, including her crazy
9291 and creative Christmas games that bring out the competitive
9392 nature and the inner child in every employee each year; and
9493 WHEREAS, Julie was and will always be thought of as
9594 the "heart" of the House of Representatives; she
9695 consistently brought an unmatched energy and enthusiasm,
9796 along with a ton of laughs, to each work day; she always

128127 demonstrated compassion and unwavering support to her
129128 colleagues by always expressing genuine care and concern for
130129 staff and their families; and
131130 WHEREAS, we know that Julie Saint will be spending
132131 more time with her husband Steve, their three children, and
133132 six grandchildren; we also know that she is not one to sit
134133 still and will be found caring for her beloved flower beds
135134 at her home in Wetumpka or shopping at her nearest Dollar
136135 "Gentral" or Walmart; we have utmost faith that she will
137136 continue to positively impact the lives of those around her
138137 in her new adventures; now therefore,
139138 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
140139 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we highly commend and thank
141140 Julie Fike Saint for her exemplary service to this House and
142141 the people of the Great State of Alabama; we direct that a
143142 copy of this resolution be delivered to Mrs. Saint as a
144143 token of our immense gratitude, and with utmost blessings of
145144 good health and happiness to her and her family.
