20 | 19 | | recognize employee Julie Fike Saint upon her retirement |

21 | 20 | | after nearly 40 years of devoted service to the Legislature |

22 | 21 | | and the people of the Great State of Alabama; and |

23 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Julie Saint started her career with the |
---|
24 | 23 | | Alabama House of Representatives as a part-time typist in |
---|
25 | 24 | | the Enrolling and Engrossing Department on Tuesday, February |
---|
26 | 25 | | 5, 1985, and was swiftly elevated to full-time employment as |
---|
27 | 26 | | a Data Entry Operator II in the same department on May 17, |
---|
28 | 27 | | 1985; and |
---|
29 | 28 | | WHEREAS, in the short span of less than three years, |
---|
30 | 29 | | at the age of 23, she was promoted to the position of |
---|
31 | 30 | | supervisor of the Enrolling and Engrossing Department and |
---|
32 | 31 | | has remained in that position ever since; and |
---|
33 | 32 | | WHEREAS, her career has spanned the terms of four |
---|
34 | 33 | | House Clerks, six House Speakers, eight Governors of |
---|
35 | 34 | | Alabama, and an astounding 88 legislative sessions; she has |
---|
36 | 35 | | seen thousands of bills cross her desk needing amendments |
---|
37 | 36 | | incorporated and bills prepared for presentment to the |
---|
38 | 37 | | Governor; she was a critical contributor to the very first |
---|
39 | 38 | | legislative computer system implemented by the Alabama |
---|
70 | 69 | | Legislature; and |

71 | 70 | | WHEREAS, Julie Saint has been a "Mama JuJu" to nearly |

72 | 71 | | every member, employee, intern, lobbyist, agency |
---|
73 | 72 | | representative, or even a visitor by giving her time and |

74 | 73 | | money to keep an endless supply of snacks in her cabinets |
---|
75 | 74 | | and by bringing countless culinary delights (most famously, |

76 | 75 | | her original and delectable Tiger Butter) from her kitchen |
---|
77 | 76 | | to feed anyone and everyone who walked into her office; and |
---|
78 | 77 | | WHEREAS, whatever members and staff needed, Julie had |
---|
79 | 78 | | it; from an earring back to a large or small safety pin, |

80 | 79 | | holding hairspray to Tylenol, lint roller to industrial |
---|
81 | 80 | | super glue, she had it all and was always willing to share; |

83 | 82 | | WHEREAS, armed with an endless supply of two-dollar |

84 | 83 | | bills, she was always one of the first employees to |

85 | 84 | | volunteer to assist in the many charitable efforts taken on |

86 | 85 | | by the House staff, such as helping pick out and purchase |
---|
87 | 86 | | presents for underprivileged children at Christmas or to don |

88 | 87 | | an outrageous Halloween costume to garner laughs from |
---|
89 | 88 | | visiting school children; additionally, she was always |
---|
90 | 89 | | helping organize and carry out a variety of staff events |
---|
91 | 90 | | that took place throughout the years, including her crazy |

92 | 91 | | and creative Christmas games that bring out the competitive |
---|
93 | 92 | | nature and the inner child in every employee each year; and |

94 | 93 | | WHEREAS, Julie was and will always be thought of as |

95 | 94 | | the "heart" of the House of Representatives; she |

96 | 95 | | consistently brought an unmatched energy and enthusiasm, |

97 | 96 | | along with a ton of laughs, to each work day; she always |

129 | 128 | | colleagues by always expressing genuine care and concern for |
