15	15	HJR___ EXTENDING THE CHRONIC WEIGHT MANAGEMENT AND TYPE 2
16	16	DIABETES TASK FORCE.
17	17	WHEREAS, House Joint Resolution 163, enacted as Act
18	18	2023-260 of the 2023 Regular Session, created the Chronic
19	19	Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force to study
20	20	the health implications of chronic weight management and
21	21	type 2 diabetes; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Act 2023-260 provided that the task force
23	23	would submit findings and recommendations to the Speaker of
24	24	the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of
25	25	the Senate, and the chairs of the appropriate legislative
26	26	committees no later than the fifteenth legislative day of
27	27	the 2025 Regular Session, at which time the task force would
28	28	be dissolved; and
29	29	WHEREAS, the task force needs an additional year in
30	30	order to continue to develop recommendations relating to the
31	31	issue of health implications of chronic weight management
32	32	and type 2 diabetes; now therefore,
33	33	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
34	34	HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the Chronic Weight
35	35	Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force , created pursuant
36	36	to Act 2023-260, 2023 Regular Session, is extended.
37	37	(a) The task force shall prepare a report of its
38	38	findings and recommendations to the Speaker of the House of

68	68	findings and recommendations to the Speaker of the House of
69	69	Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,
70	70	and the chairs of the appropriate legislative committees not
71	71	later than the fifteenth legislative day of the 2026 Regular
72	72	Session. Upon filing its report, the task force shall stand
73	73	dissolved and discharged of any future duties and
74	74	liabilities.
75	75	(b) Pursuant to Section 36-14-17.1, Code of Alabama
76	76	1975, the task force shall provide the Secretary of State a
77	77	notice of all meetings, the name of each member serving on
78	78	the task force, and a copy of the final report and any other
79	79	documents produced by the task force throughout its
80	80	duration.
