HR____ COMMENDING DEPUTY THOMAS E. OWEN, JR. ON THE OCCASION
OF HIS RETIREMENT FOM THE MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.
WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
highest commendations are conveyed to Deputy Thomas E. Owen,
Jr. on the occasion of his retirement from the Mobile County
Sheriff's Office; and 
WHEREAS, Deputy Owen began his career in law
enforcement 42 years ago when he joined the Mobile Police
Department Police Academy, Class #6; he graduated in
December of 1984 and was assigned to the patrol division; he
was moved up to Traffic Officer, a position he held until
his retirement in September of 2006; during his tenure with
the Mobile Police Department, Officer Owen received a Letter
of Commendation from the chief for proper application of
life-saving procedures to a gunshot victim; and 
WHEREAS, Deputy Owen joined the Mobile County
Sheriff's Office in October 2006 and served the residents of
Mobile County in that role for more than 18 years; during
his tenure with the department, he earned an Officer of the
Month distinction and was awarded a Combat Cross; he also
served Redemption Church in Saraland on Sundays for 18 years
as Armed Security and Traffic Enforcement; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Deputy Thomas E. Owen, Jr. is

LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Deputy Thomas E. Owen, Jr. is
highly commended on the occasion of his retirement from the
Mobile Sheriff's Office, and this resolution is offered to
him as evidence of our high regard with our appreciation for
his 42 years of service in law enforcement and with best
wishes for continued success and prosperity during his
retirement.
