15	15	HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF GRAHAM
16	16	LAMAR CHAMPION.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow and deep regret
18	18	that we record the passing of Graham Lamar Champion of Pike
19	19	Road, Alabama, on February 7, 2025, at the age of 72; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Graham Champion was the owner of Public
21	21	Strategies, LLC, a lobbying firm where he represented
22	22	clients across the nation; and
23	23	WHEREAS, he was held in high respect by past and
24	24	present members of the Alabama Legislature for his
25	25	friendliness, honesty, knowledge, and willingness to listen
26	26	to all sides of issues with which he was involved, and
27	27	whenever possible, he was willing to compromise to reach an
28	28	agreement; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Graham Champion's service to his clients and
30	30	to members of the Alabama Legislature is well known and
31	31	respected: his dedication and commitment to civic service is
32	32	equally well known and held in equally high respect; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Graham Champion was a devoted member of the
34	34	Montgomery Rotary Club where he served as president;
35	35	additionally, he served the Rotary Club as assistant
36	36	district governor and district membership chair; and
37	37	WHEREAS, he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow
38	38	for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee

68	68	for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
69	69	University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in
70	70	developing the polio vaccine; and
71	71	WHEREAS, Graham Champion earned the rank of Eagle
72	72	Scout in August 1966; he maintained a lifelong devotion to
73	73	scouting, serving as president of the Tukabatchee Area
74	74	Council since 2022 and standing as a longtime member of the
75	75	Council Executive Board; and
76	76	WHEREAS, he was recognized as the 2023 Outstanding
77	77	Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for his
78	78	service to scouting; and
79	79	WHEREAS, above all else, the most important thing in
80	80	Graham Champion's life was his family; he is survived by his
81	81	beloved wife, Linda; sons, Matthew Champion (Katie) and Lee
82	82	Walden; grandchildren, Landon Champion, Madison Champion,
83	83	and Nate Walden; and sister, Celie Edwards; and
84	84	WHEREAS, in addition to his family, Graham Champion
85	85	leaves behind scores of people from all walks of life who
86	86	called him not just a friend, but a very good friend; now
87	87	therefore,
88	88	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
89	89	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while we mourn the death of
90	90	Graham Champion, we celebrate his life and recognize his
91	91	contributions to the good people of the Great State of
92	92	Alabama, and we offer this resolution along with heartfelt
93	93	sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
