1515 HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF GRAHAM
1616 LAMAR CHAMPION.
1717 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow and deep regret
1818 that we record the passing of Graham Lamar Champion of Pike
1919 Road, Alabama, on February 7, 2025, at the age of 72; and
2020 WHEREAS, Graham Champion was the owner of Public
2121 Strategies, LLC, a lobbying firm where he represented
2222 clients across the nation; and
2323 WHEREAS, he was held in high respect by past and
2424 present members of the Alabama Legislature for his
2525 friendliness, honesty, knowledge, and willingness to listen
2626 to all sides of issues with which he was involved, and
2727 whenever possible, he was willing to compromise to reach an
2828 agreement; and
2929 WHEREAS, Graham Champion's service to his clients and
3030 to members of the Alabama Legislature is well known and
3131 respected: his dedication and commitment to civic service is
3232 equally well known and held in equally high respect; and
3333 WHEREAS, Graham Champion was a devoted member of the
3434 Montgomery Rotary Club where he served as president;
3535 additionally, he served the Rotary Club as assistant
3636 district governor and district membership chair; and
3737 WHEREAS, he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow
3838 for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee

6868 for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
6969 University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in
7070 developing the polio vaccine; and
7171 WHEREAS, Graham Champion earned the rank of Eagle
7272 Scout in August 1966; he maintained a lifelong devotion to
7373 scouting, serving as president of the Tukabatchee Area
7474 Council since 2022 and standing as a longtime member of the
7575 Council Executive Board; and
7676 WHEREAS, he was recognized as the 2023 Outstanding
7777 Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for his
7878 service to scouting; and
7979 WHEREAS, above all else, the most important thing in
8080 Graham Champion's life was his family; he is survived by his
8181 beloved wife, Linda; sons, Matthew Champion (Katie) and Lee
8282 Walden; grandchildren, Landon Champion, Madison Champion,
8383 and Nate Walden; and sister, Celie Edwards; and
8484 WHEREAS, in addition to his family, Graham Champion
8585 leaves behind scores of people from all walks of life who
8686 called him not just a friend, but a very good friend; now
8787 therefore,
8888 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8989 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while we mourn the death of
9090 Graham Champion, we celebrate his life and recognize his
9191 contributions to the good people of the Great State of
9292 Alabama, and we offer this resolution along with heartfelt
9393 sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
