16	16	BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC
17	17	ASSOCIATION CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
18	18	WHEREAS, the Alabama Senate takes great pride in
19	19	recognizing outstanding accomplishments by our state's
20	20	students and athletes; and
21	21	WHEREAS, the Scottsboro High School Girls Basketball
22	22	Team has achieved remarkable success by winning the Alabama
23	23	High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 5A State
24	24	Championship, a testament to their exceptional skill, hard
25	25	work, and dedication; and
26	26	WHEREAS, as the buzzer sounded throughout
27	27	Birmingham's Legacy Arena, the Scottsboro Girls Basketball
28	28	Team began a celebration many envisioned possible nearly a
29	29	decade earlier; this group of players, billed as
30	30	state-championship material as far back as elementary
31	31	school, delivered Scottsboro High School its first AHSAA
32	32	High School Girls Basketball State Championship with a 54-53
33	33	win over top-ranked Ramsay High School; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Scottsboro returned all five starters and
35	35	its top-four reserves from last year's state runner-up team
36	36	and entered this season as a state-title favorite, but that
37	37	pressure never bothered the Wildcats; and

66	66	pressure never bothered the Wildcats; and
67	67	WHEREAS, the Scottsboro Girls Basketball Program
68	68	became the third Scottsboro High School athletic program
69	69	this academic year to win its first state championship,
70	70	joining boys swimming and girls bowling; with the addition
71	71	of the wrestling program's state titles, Scottsboro High
72	72	School teams have won five state championships during the
73	73	2024-25 school year; and
74	74	WHEREAS, the remarkable members of the championship
75	75	basketball team are: Grace White, Abigail Shelton, Morgan
76	76	Perkins, Ella White, Terri Austin, Preston Carlson, Zayden
77	77	Willis, Shane Small, Mia Martin, Bree Sexton, Tatum Shelton,
78	78	Caroline Dawson, and Draiea Prater; they were marvelously
79	79	coached by head coach Brandon Childers and assistant coaches
80	80	Zach Belvin, Cully Nelson, and Nita Tolliver; and
81	81	WHEREAS, the achievements of this team bring great
82	82	pride to Scottsboro High School, the City of Scottsboro, and
83	83	the entire State of Alabama; now therefore,
84	84	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
85	85	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Scottsboro High School
86	86	Girls Basketball Team is hereby commended and congratulated
87	87	on their outstanding victory in the AHSAA Class 5A State
88	88	Championship.
