23	23	HR____ CELEBRATING THE 100TH BIRTHDAY OF OPAL STEELE
24	24	BLACKWELL.
25	25	WHEREAS, it is with great pride and admiration that
26	26	we recognize the remarkable milestone that Gulf Shores
27	27	resident Opal Steele Blackwell has reached on the joyous
28	28	occasion of her 100th birthday on March 29, 2025; and
29	29	WHEREAS, she was born to Thomas and Pauline Steele in
30	30	Tampa, Florida, on March 29, 1925, and as a young child
31	31	moved with her parents to Foley, Alabama, the place she
32	32	would call home for a majority of her life; and
33	33	WHEREAS, she attended and graduated from Foley High
34	34	School, where she met her future husband, Earl Blackwell,
35	35	with whom she built a loving family, raising two children,
36	36	Pairzetty and Michael; and
37	37	WHEREAS, a devoted homemaker, she also enjoyed her
38	38	occasional work at Cooper's Department Store in Foley, where
39	39	she was blessed to see and help so many of her friends from
40	40	across South Baldwin County; and
41	41	WHEREAS, she has been a valued member of the
42	42	community, notably as a founding member of the Foley Civic
43	43	League, an organization dedicated to the betterment of the
44	44	city and its residents; and
45	45	WHEREAS, Opal Steele Blackwell is an accomplished
46	46	bridge player, having earned the prestigious status of Life

77	77	Master, a testament to her skill, dedication, and keen

79	79	WHEREAS, her faith has been a guiding force
80	80	throughout her life, as she has remained a lifelong
81	81	Episcopalian and, in recent years, continued to be an active
82	82	and faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon
83	83	Secour; and
84	84	WHEREAS, she takes great joy in her loving family,
85	85	which includes her treasured grandchildren and
86	86	great-grandchildren, who bring her immense pride and
87	87	happiness; and
88	88	WHEREAS, the occasion of her centennial birthday
89	89	provides an opportunity for her family, friends, and
90	90	community to reflect on the legacy of kindness, strength,
91	91	and dedication that Opal Steele Blackwell has imparted over
92	92	the past century; now therefore,
93	93	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
94	94	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we do hereby honor and
95	95	celebrate the extraordinary life of Opal Steele Blackwell on
96	96	the occasion of her 100th birthday, commending her for her
97	97	many contributions to her community and extending our best
98	98	wishes for continued happiness and health.
99	99	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this
100	100	resolution be presented to Opal Steele Blackwell in
101	101	recognition of this special occasion, with sincere
102	102	congratulations and warmest regards.
