17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, with an overwhelming sense of loss, we mourn |

18 | 18 | | the death, yet celebrate the life, of Mr. Allen Thomas of |
---|
19 | 19 | | Eufaula, Alabama, whose passing on March 5, 2025, at the age |
---|
20 | 20 | | of 77, has left a void in the lives of his loving family and |
---|
21 | 21 | | friends and the entire community, where he was highly |
---|
22 | 22 | | regarded; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was born on August 13, 1947, in |
---|
24 | 24 | | Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Clinton and Mamie |
---|
25 | 25 | | Griffin Thomas; he pursued his education at Van Buren School |
---|
26 | 26 | | and graduated from Dr. TV McCoo High School in 1965; from an |
---|
27 | 27 | | early age, he embraced his faith as a devoted member and |
---|
28 | 28 | | Deacon of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, on June 11, 1966, Mr. Thomas married his |
---|
30 | 30 | | beloved wife and lifelong partner, Rena Mae Drewery Thomas, |
---|
31 | 31 | | sharing a union of love and devotion for more than 58 years; |
---|
32 | 32 | | and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, in 1969, he answered the call to serve, |
---|
34 | 34 | | enlisting in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, where |
---|
35 | 35 | | he bravely fought in the Vietnam War and later continued his |
---|
36 | 36 | | military career in the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring |
---|
37 | 37 | | as a Sergeant E5 after 21 years of dedicated service ; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, throughout his military career, Mr. Thomas |

76 | 76 | | his expertise as a Brick Masonry Instructor at the Eufaula |

77 | 77 | | Area Vocational School, mentoring future generations; and |

78 | 78 | | WHEREAS, he dedicated over 40 years as a Master Brick |

79 | 79 | | Mason, leaving his mark on numerous landmarks, including |

80 | 80 | | Zion Hill Baptist Church, Eufaula High School, Auburn High |
---|
81 | 81 | | School, Ventress Prison, and the Eufaula Post Office; and |

82 | 82 | | WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was a man of faith, integrity, |

83 | 83 | | dedication, and selfless service, whose legacy will continue |
---|
84 | 84 | | to inspire all who knew him; and |

85 | 85 | | WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents, |

86 | 86 | | Clinton and Marnie Thomas; brothers, Clinton Thomas, Jr. and |
