15	15	HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ALLEN
16	16	THOMAS.
17	17	WHEREAS, with an overwhelming sense of loss, we mourn
18	18	the death, yet celebrate the life, of Mr. Allen Thomas of
19	19	Eufaula, Alabama, whose passing on March 5, 2025, at the age
20	20	of 77, has left a void in the lives of his loving family and
21	21	friends and the entire community, where he was highly
22	22	regarded; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was born on August 13, 1947, in
24	24	Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Clinton and Mamie
25	25	Griffin Thomas; he pursued his education at Van Buren School
26	26	and graduated from Dr. TV McCoo High School in 1965; from an
27	27	early age, he embraced his faith as a devoted member and
28	28	Deacon of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church; and
29	29	WHEREAS, on June 11, 1966, Mr. Thomas married his
30	30	beloved wife and lifelong partner, Rena Mae Drewery Thomas,
31	31	sharing a union of love and devotion for more than 58 years;
32	32	and
33	33	WHEREAS, in 1969, he answered the call to serve,
34	34	enlisting in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, where
35	35	he bravely fought in the Vietnam War and later continued his
36	36	military career in the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring
37	37	as a Sergeant E5 after 21 years of dedicated service ; and
38	38	WHEREAS, throughout his military career, Mr. Thomas

68	68	WHEREAS, throughout his military career, Mr. Thomas
69	69	earned numerous honors, including the Army Commendation
70	70	Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, the Purple Heart Medal, the
71	71	Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service
72	72	Ribbon, among many others, recognizing his exemplary service
73	73	and sacrifice; and
74	74	WHEREAS, in 1974, he pursued higher education at
75	75	Auburn University and Alabama State University, later using
76	76	his expertise as a Brick Masonry Instructor at the Eufaula
77	77	Area Vocational School, mentoring future generations; and
78	78	WHEREAS, he dedicated over 40 years as a Master Brick
79	79	Mason, leaving his mark on numerous landmarks, including
80	80	Zion Hill Baptist Church, Eufaula High School, Auburn High
81	81	School, Ventress Prison, and the Eufaula Post Office; and
82	82	WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was a man of faith, integrity,
83	83	dedication, and selfless service, whose legacy will continue
84	84	to inspire all who knew him; and
85	85	WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents,
86	86	Clinton and Marnie Thomas; brothers, Clinton Thomas, Jr. and
87	87	Sylvester Thomas; and sisters, Mary Thomas and Betty
88	88	Parkman; and
89	89	WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his loving
90	90	wife; devoted goddaughters and caregivers, Lillie Gilbert
91	91	(Bobby) and Cawana Calloway (Felix); goddaughters, Jackie
92	92	Pierce (Leotis), Shanda (Britt) Paige, Star Thomas, Mary Eva
93	93	Upshaw (Christopher), Tammy Irving (Ricky), and Yolanda
94	94	Kelly; god-grandchildren, Aalyiah and Brandy Deloach, and
95	95	Consuela Allen; nephews, Jessie Parkman and James Maurice
96	96	Thomas (Tiffany); god-sister, Eunice Eddy (Justin); sisters,

132	132	WHEREAS, a valued member of the community and loved
133	133	by many, his passion for life will be remembered fondly; we
134	134	join with others to celebrate his life and to mourn his
135	135	death; although his presence will be greatly missed, his
136	136	memory will be cherished in the hearts and minds of those
137	137	who were fortunate to know him ; now therefore,
138	138	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
139	139	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, Tha t the death of Mr. Allen Thomas
140	140	is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
141	141	offered in tribute to his life, along with heartfelt
142	142	sympathy to his grieving family.
