1515 HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ALLEN
1616 THOMAS.
1717 WHEREAS, with an overwhelming sense of loss, we mourn
1818 the death, yet celebrate the life, of Mr. Allen Thomas of
1919 Eufaula, Alabama, whose passing on March 5, 2025, at the age
2020 of 77, has left a void in the lives of his loving family and
2121 friends and the entire community, where he was highly
2222 regarded; and
2323 WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was born on August 13, 1947, in
2424 Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Clinton and Mamie
2525 Griffin Thomas; he pursued his education at Van Buren School
2626 and graduated from Dr. TV McCoo High School in 1965; from an
2727 early age, he embraced his faith as a devoted member and
2828 Deacon of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church; and
2929 WHEREAS, on June 11, 1966, Mr. Thomas married his
3030 beloved wife and lifelong partner, Rena Mae Drewery Thomas,
3131 sharing a union of love and devotion for more than 58 years;
3232 and
3333 WHEREAS, in 1969, he answered the call to serve,
3434 enlisting in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, where
3535 he bravely fought in the Vietnam War and later continued his
3636 military career in the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring
3737 as a Sergeant E5 after 21 years of dedicated service ; and
3838 WHEREAS, throughout his military career, Mr. Thomas

6868 WHEREAS, throughout his military career, Mr. Thomas
6969 earned numerous honors, including the Army Commendation
7070 Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, the Purple Heart Medal, the
7171 Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service
7272 Ribbon, among many others, recognizing his exemplary service
7373 and sacrifice; and
7474 WHEREAS, in 1974, he pursued higher education at
7575 Auburn University and Alabama State University, later using
7676 his expertise as a Brick Masonry Instructor at the Eufaula
7777 Area Vocational School, mentoring future generations; and
7878 WHEREAS, he dedicated over 40 years as a Master Brick
7979 Mason, leaving his mark on numerous landmarks, including
8080 Zion Hill Baptist Church, Eufaula High School, Auburn High
8181 School, Ventress Prison, and the Eufaula Post Office; and
8282 WHEREAS, Allen Thomas was a man of faith, integrity,
8383 dedication, and selfless service, whose legacy will continue
8484 to inspire all who knew him; and
8585 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents,
8686 Clinton and Marnie Thomas; brothers, Clinton Thomas, Jr. and
8787 Sylvester Thomas; and sisters, Mary Thomas and Betty
8888 Parkman; and
8989 WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his loving
9090 wife; devoted goddaughters and caregivers, Lillie Gilbert
9191 (Bobby) and Cawana Calloway (Felix); goddaughters, Jackie
9292 Pierce (Leotis), Shanda (Britt) Paige, Star Thomas, Mary Eva
9393 Upshaw (Christopher), Tammy Irving (Ricky), and Yolanda
9494 Kelly; god-grandchildren, Aalyiah and Brandy Deloach, and
9595 Consuela Allen; nephews, Jessie Parkman and James Maurice
9696 Thomas (Tiffany); god-sister, Eunice Eddy (Justin); sisters,

132132 WHEREAS, a valued member of the community and loved
133133 by many, his passion for life will be remembered fondly; we
134134 join with others to celebrate his life and to mourn his
135135 death; although his presence will be greatly missed, his
136136 memory will be cherished in the hearts and minds of those
137137 who were fortunate to know him ; now therefore,
138138 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
139139 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, Tha t the death of Mr. Allen Thomas
140140 is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
141141 offered in tribute to his life, along with heartfelt
142142 sympathy to his grieving family.
