15	15	HR____ RECOGNIZING THE BAY FROG OPEN AND RETIRED NAVY SEAL
16	16	LIEUTENANT COMMANDER RICHARD CLIFFORD FOR THEIR DEDICATION
17	17	TO THE UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES.
18	18	WHEREAS, on June 22, 2025, in Erie, Pennsylvania,
19	19	Uncommon Grit Foundation (UGF) is hosting its third annual
20	20	Bay Frog Open One-Mile Swim, which will feature athletes
21	21	accompanied by former Navy SEALs and Special Operations
22	22	Veterans; and
23	23	WHEREAS, the Bay Frog Open One-Mile Swim will
24	24	conclude three days of events that center around awareness,
25	25	patriotism, community, and fun; this high-performance
26	26	athletic event draws together anyone willing to take the
27	27	challenge in a race that embodies the grit and determination
28	28	of the Special Operations Forces; and
29	29	WHEREAS, proceeds from the event will benefit
30	30	Uncommon Grit Foundation as well as allow UGF to elevate the
31	31	work of other nonprofit organizations that raise money for
32	32	our nation's service men and women; and
33	33	WHEREAS, founded in spring of 2020, the mission of
34	34	UGF is to raise awareness and increase community support for
35	35	military Veterans, first responders, and their families in
36	36	recognition and thanks for their service and sacrifice to
37	37	our country; and
38	38	WHEREAS, we commend proud Alabamian Navy SEAL

68	68	WHEREAS, we commend proud Alabamian Navy SEAL
69	69	Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Richard Clifford for his
70	70	support of Uncommon Grit Foundation; LCDR Clifford joined
71	71	the military in 1986, BUDS Class 142; during his 31 years of
72	72	active duty, he served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan,
73	73	and for his service in Afghanistan he received a Bronze Star
74	74	and two Combat Action Ribbons; he retired in 2017 and has
75	75	since advocated for and contributed to various military
76	76	Veteran organizations, including this year's Bay Frog Open
77	77	hosted by the Uncommon Grit Foundation, bringing awareness
78	78	of their worthy causes back to the great State of Alabama;
79	79	now therefore,
80	80	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
81	81	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we recognize and celebrate the
82	82	missions of Uncommon Grit Foundation and retired Navy SEAL
83	83	Lieutenant Commander Richard Clifford on their work to
84	84	support all United States Special Operations Forces; we
85	85	commend their fundraising efforts at the 2025 Bay Frog Open,
86	86	and we hereby dedicate this resolution to them with
87	87	heartiest appreciation and admiration, along with sincere
88	88	best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
