1515 HR____ HONORING THE NORTH ALABAMA BOYS FOR HURRICANE RELIEF
1616 EFFORTS.
1717 WHEREAS, Hurricane Helene made landfall in North
1818 Carolina in late September 2024, leaving widespread
1919 devastation, displacing families, and causing extensive
2020 damage to infrastructure and communities; and
2121 WHEREAS, the hurricane claimed at least 104 lives and
2222 necessitated hundreds of millions of dollars in federal
2323 disaster relief aid to begin rebuilding efforts in the
2424 affected areas; and
2525 WHEREAS, the North Alabama Boys, a dedicated group of
2626 volunteers led by Rand Hutchison, Adron Davis, and many
2727 others, selflessly organized and executed relief efforts to
2828 provide aid to those in need; and
2929 WHEREAS, Rand Hutchison, along with Adron Davis,
3030 Hunter Teague, Todd Griffith, Jason Spradling, Craig
3131 Livingston, Andy Villarreal, Wes Trammel, Zach Knight, Jay
3232 Hollenbeck, Jonathan Bunn, and Brad Sharp, traveled to
3333 Fairview, North Carolina, focusing on cooking and feeding
3434 disaster victims and relief workers, serving over 600 meals
3535 in a single day and preparing over 1,000 ribeye steak
3636 sandwiches and 1,000 breakfast burritos; and
3737 WHHEREAS, the second group, consisting of Johnny
3838 Maxwell, Sharon Maxwell, Anthony Maxwell, David Lawson,

6868 Maxwell, Sharon Maxwell, Anthony Maxwell, David Lawson,
6969 Linda Lawson, Jamie Lawson, and Willie Eaton, among others,
7070 made a total of 30 relief trips, with Anthony Maxwell making
7171 11 trips and additional volunteers making multiple journeys
7272 to deliver essential supplies and assistance; and
7373 WHEREAS, through their combined efforts, the North
7474 Alabama Boys raised and collected approximately $350,000 in
7575 cash and goods for the people of Western North Carolina,
7676 providing direct relief to impacted families and
7777 communities; and
7878 WHEREAS, in addition to providing meals, the North
7979 Alabama Boys assisted the Yancey County Humane Society by
8080 delivering a full trailer load of Hill's Science Diet pet
8181 food and relocating their storage shed to the proper
8282 location, ensuring continued care for displaced and affected
8383 animals; and
8484 WHEREAS, recognizing the need for sustainable,
8585 ongoing disaster relief efforts, the North Alabama Boys have
8686 taken steps to establish a nonprofit organization with the
8787 mission of providing disaster and weather relief to affected
8888 communities within a 48-hour response window; and
8989 WHEREAS, the dedication, selflessness, and generosity
9090 of these volunteers exemplify the highest ideals of
9191 community service, neighborly compassion, and humanitarian
9292 aid; now therefore,
9393 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9494 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we hereby recognize and honor
9595 the North Alabama Boys for their extraordinary commitment to
9696 disaster relief efforts, their unwavering support for the
