HR____ CELEBRATING DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY DAY ON APRIL
10, 2025.
WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated,
was founded January 13, 1913, in Washington, D.C., by 22
collegiate women with its first official act being the
participation in the Women's Suffrage March; and
WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta currently has 1,000
collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United
States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the
Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, West Africa,
Southern Africa, United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of
Korea; and
WHEREAS, there are 41 collegiate and alumnae chapters
in the State of Alabama with over 3,500 members; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Alabama Chapters
recognize their continued duty and responsibility to public
service, which includes not only taking an active interest
and participation in educating the masses with regards to
issues, but advocating for policies and policy changes that
impact and affect our communities; and
WHEREAS, each year, the members of the Alabama
Chapters convene on the Alabama State Capitol to educate,
advocate, and ensure that their collective voices are heard;
and

and
WHEREAS, this year's Alabama Delta Days at the State
Capitol will take place on April 10, 2025, under the theme:
"Our Future. Our Fight"; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Incorporated, is hereby celebrated and congratulated on
their longevity and community service, and this Legislature
takes great pride in recognizing their contributions on
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Day on April 10, 2025.
