1919 HR____ COMMENDING JAMES BRADBERRY IV FOR PROFESSIONAL
2020 ACHIEVEMENTS.
2121 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
2222 highest commendations are conveyed to Alabama native son,
2323 James Bradberry IV, for his many professional achievements
2424 during his professional football career; and
2525 WHEREAS, James Bradberry was a two-sport athlete at
2626 Pleasant Grove High School in Pleasant Grove, Alabama,
2727 playing varsity football and basketball; a three-year
2828 varsity letterman for the Spartans football team, James
2929 played cornerback and safety positions, earning all-metro
3030 and first team all-state honors; he was also team captain
3131 and was inducted into the National Honor Society; and
3232 WHEREAS, James Bradberry first attended Arkansas
3333 State University, where he was assigned as a defensive back
3434 in his freshman season in 2011, during which he redshirted;
3535 he transferred to Samford University and joined the Bulldogs
3636 for the 2012 season, playing as a starting cornerback for
3737 all 11 games; his debut season totals included 32 tackles,
3838 including 22 solo stops and two interceptions, a performance
3939 that named him to the 2012 Southern Conference All-Freshmen
4040 team; he continued to standout during his college career,
4141 gaining the attention of the Carolina Panthers who selected
4242 him in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft; and

7373 WHEREAS, the Panthers signed him to a four-year
7474 contract; during training camp in 2016, he competed for the
7575 job of starting cornerback and won that job alongside
7676 veteran, Bené Benwikere; he finished his rookie season with
7777 59 combined tackles, 10 pass deflections, and two
7878 interceptions in 13 games and 13 starts; he graded out as
7979 the top ranked rookie cornerback and the Panthers' top
8080 defensive back; the next year, he started in his first
8181 career playoff game and recorded eight combined tackles; he
8282 continued in his starting role for the next two seasons with
8383 the Panthers; and
8484 WHEREAS, James Bradberry signed a three-year contract
8585 with the New York Giants in 2020 and was named the number
8686 one starting cornerback, paired with Corey Ballentine; at
8787 the end of his first season with the Giants, he earned his
8888 first Pro Bowl selection and was invited to play in the 2021
8989 Pro Bowl, and he was ranked 74th by his fellow players on
9090 the NFL Top 100 Players of 2021; he also finished the 2020
9191 season with 54 combined tackles, 18 passes defended, three
9292 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery
9393 in 15 games and 15 starts; his next season, he started in
9494 all 17 games and finished with 47 combined tackles, 17
9595 passes defended, a career-high four interceptions, and two
9696 fumble recoveries; he was released from the Giants in May
9797 2022 and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles; and
9898 WHEREAS, Bradberry made his debut with the Eagles in
9999 their season opener, during which he returned an

136136 advanced through the playoffs to Super Bowl LVII, which he
137137 started, recording five combined tackles; the Eagles signed
138138 him to a three-year contract extension; in the 2023 season,
139139 he made 16 starts, 54 total tackles, one interception, 13
140140 passes defended, and one forced fumble; he suffered a leg
141141 injury before the 2024 season and was placed on injured
142142 reserve; he was able to become a Super Bowl Champion when
143143 the Eagles defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX; and
144144 WHEREAS, James Bradberry returned home to Pleasant
145145 Grove High School for a ceremony where his Spartan jersey
146146 number 10 was retired on April 5, 2024; now therefore,
147147 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
148148 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That James Bradberry IV is highly
149149 commended and congratulated for his many career successes as
150150 an NFL athlete and this resolution is offered to him in
151151 highest tribute with best wishes for continued prosperity
