19	19	HR____ COMMENDING JAMES BRADBERRY IV FOR PROFESSIONAL
20	20	ACHIEVEMENTS.
21	21	WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
22	22	highest commendations are conveyed to Alabama native son,
23	23	James Bradberry IV, for his many professional achievements
24	24	during his professional football career; and
25	25	WHEREAS, James Bradberry was a two-sport athlete at
26	26	Pleasant Grove High School in Pleasant Grove, Alabama,
27	27	playing varsity football and basketball; a three-year
28	28	varsity letterman for the Spartans football team, James
29	29	played cornerback and safety positions, earning all-metro
30	30	and first team all-state honors; he was also team captain
31	31	and was inducted into the National Honor Society; and
32	32	WHEREAS, James Bradberry first attended Arkansas
33	33	State University, where he was assigned as a defensive back
34	34	in his freshman season in 2011, during which he redshirted;
35	35	he transferred to Samford University and joined the Bulldogs
36	36	for the 2012 season, playing as a starting cornerback for
37	37	all 11 games; his debut season totals included 32 tackles,
38	38	including 22 solo stops and two interceptions, a performance
39	39	that named him to the 2012 Southern Conference All-Freshmen
40	40	team; he continued to standout during his college career,
41	41	gaining the attention of the Carolina Panthers who selected
42	42	him in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft; and

73	73	WHEREAS, the Panthers signed him to a four-year
74	74	contract; during training camp in 2016, he competed for the
75	75	job of starting cornerback and won that job alongside
76	76	veteran, Bené Benwikere; he finished his rookie season with
77	77	59 combined tackles, 10 pass deflections, and two
78	78	interceptions in 13 games and 13 starts; he graded out as
79	79	the top ranked rookie cornerback and the Panthers' top
80	80	defensive back; the next year, he started in his first
81	81	career playoff game and recorded eight combined tackles; he
82	82	continued in his starting role for the next two seasons with
83	83	the Panthers; and
84	84	WHEREAS, James Bradberry signed a three-year contract
85	85	with the New York Giants in 2020 and was named the number
86	86	one starting cornerback, paired with Corey Ballentine; at
87	87	the end of his first season with the Giants, he earned his
88	88	first Pro Bowl selection and was invited to play in the 2021
89	89	Pro Bowl, and he was ranked 74th by his fellow players on
90	90	the NFL Top 100 Players of 2021; he also finished the 2020
91	91	season with 54 combined tackles, 18 passes defended, three
92	92	interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery
93	93	in 15 games and 15 starts; his next season, he started in
94	94	all 17 games and finished with 47 combined tackles, 17
95	95	passes defended, a career-high four interceptions, and two
96	96	fumble recoveries; he was released from the Giants in May
97	97	2022 and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles; and
98	98	WHEREAS, Bradberry made his debut with the Eagles in
99	99	their season opener, during which he returned an
100	100	interception thrown by Jared Goff to tight end T.J.

134	134	and one touchdown; the Eagles finished the 2022 NFL season
135	135	with a 14-3 record to clinch a first-round bye; the team
136	136	advanced through the playoffs to Super Bowl LVII, which he
137	137	started, recording five combined tackles; the Eagles signed
138	138	him to a three-year contract extension; in the 2023 season,
139	139	he made 16 starts, 54 total tackles, one interception, 13
140	140	passes defended, and one forced fumble; he suffered a leg
141	141	injury before the 2024 season and was placed on injured
142	142	reserve; he was able to become a Super Bowl Champion when
143	143	the Eagles defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX; and
144	144	WHEREAS, James Bradberry returned home to Pleasant
145	145	Grove High School for a ceremony where his Spartan jersey
146	146	number 10 was retired on April 5, 2024; now therefore,
147	147	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
148	148	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That James Bradberry IV is highly
149	149	commended and congratulated for his many career successes as
150	150	an NFL athlete and this resolution is offered to him in
151	151	highest tribute with best wishes for continued prosperity
