15	15	HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF
16	16	PATRICIA ANN PAUL WITHERSPOON.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
18	18	death of Patricia "Pat" Ann Paul Witherspoon of Brighton,
19	19	Alabama, on April 3, 2025, at the age of 74; her departure
20	20	leaves a void in the lives of her loving family, many
21	21	friends, and the community where she was highly regarded;
22	22	and
23	23	WHEREAS, Pat Witherspoon was born September 16, 1950,
24	24	to Percy and Clariece Paul in Brighton, Alabama; she was the
25	25	third oldest of six children; she accepted Christ at an
26	26	early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brighton, where she
27	27	was an active member; and
28	28	WHEREAS, she later became a member of New Bethlehem
29	29	Baptist Church, Bessemer; her 27 years of dedicated service
30	30	to the church included: instituting the Welcome and Pastoral
31	31	Support ministries, expanding the Youth Department, serving
32	32	as Youth Director, Sunday School teacher, Usher Board,
33	33	Missionary Society, and choir member; she later joined First
34	34	Baptist Church of Brighton, where she continued to serve,
35	35	chair, and grow ministries; and
36	36	WHEREAS, her childhood education was centered in the
37	37	Brighton Schools; after graduating from Brighton High School
38	38	in 1968, she accepted a job with the Social Security

68	68	in 1968, she accepted a job with the Social Security
69	69	Administration in Bessemer; she matriculated at the Alverson
70	70	Draughon Business College in Birmingham, Alabama, earning an
71	71	Associate's Degree and completing her studies at the
72	72	Birmingham Baptist Bible College; and
73	73	WHEREAS, Pat's professionalism and work ethic granted
74	74	her the opportunities to serve in various capacities which
75	75	include, but are not limited to: Sales Team Supervisor of
76	76	the Berry Company, in which she consistently exceeded her
77	77	quota in sales; AT&T; Highland Memorial Gardens; and the
78	78	Director of Jesus Christian Daycare & School; she was
79	79	employed at Alabama Power Company for 27 years, serving in
80	80	diverse roles such as, Human Resources, Public Relations and
81	81	Advertising Specialist, Communication Specialist, and Yellow
82	82	Page Advertising; she was a distinguished member of Who's
83	83	Who Worldwide, the Teacher Corps, and worked with the Red
84	84	Cross Blood Services, the 1996 Birmingham Olympic Soccer
85	85	Organizing Committee, and the Legislative Appreciation
86	86	Event, earning her the BSOC award; her most memorable moment
87	87	was appearing in the Jet Magazine representing Alabama Power
88	88	Company at the National Association of Black Journalists,
89	89	establishing business and lasting personal relationships;
90	90	and
91	91	WHEREAS, beyond her service to the church and
92	92	professional capacities, Patricia lived a life of caring for
93	93	everyone, with an immense love for family and her fur
94	94	babies, Pooh, Ivory, and grand-dog Kassie; her capabilities
95	95	allowed her to turn every negative into a positive, and her
96	96	strong faith in Jesus Christ helped her persevere in

127	127	sickness and adversity; and
128	128	WHEREAS, Patricia was preceded in death by her
129	129	parents; brothers, Robert James Hawkins and Alvin Hawkins,
130	130	Jr.; she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter,
131	131	LaTunya Paul; sisters, Marcia Morrow, Deloris Luster
132	132	(Erwin), and LaDonna Cotton (Darryl); nieces and nephews,
133	133	Romey, Emanuel, Gloria, LaShay (Lynn), Jalaya, Darryl, Jr.,
134	134	Kyndal, Kynidi, and Lauryn; and a host of family, friends,
135	135	and loved ones; and
136	136	WHEREAS, Ms. Witherspoon, a consummate leader who was
137	137	classy and caring, poised and passionate, elegant and
138	138	eloquent, and dependable and dedicated; her unwavering love
139	139	for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made a profound impact
140	140	on the lives she touched; she believed, "If you desire to
141	141	make a difference in the world, you must be different from
142	142	the world"; now therefore,
143	143	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
144	144	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Patricia Ann Paul
145	145	Witherspoon is recorded with deep sadness, and this
146	146	resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
147	147	and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
148	148	shared by many.
