1515 HR___ COMMENDING THE STUDENTS OF HOKES BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOR
1616 SERVING AT POLLING LOCATIONS DURING THE 2024 ELECTION.
1717 WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly
1818 presented to the students of Hokes Bluff High School for
1919 serving at various polling locations during the 2024
2020 election; and
2121 WHEREAS, Hokes Bluff students covered 11 polling
2222 places throughout the county; some of these were close to
2323 the school, including Hokes Bluff Community Center and
2424 Tillison Bend Water Authority, but many of the students
2525 traveled a great distance to serve at Mountainboro Fire
2626 Department, Lookout Mountain Community Center, and Noccalula
2727 Kiwannis Pavilion; and
2828 WHEREAS, working at these polling places allowed the
2929 students to get to know different people and learn the
3030 method of how elections work at the grassroots level; some
3131 of their responsibilities included helping to check in
3232 voters, validate identification, and handing out ballots and
3333 helping turn them in; many of the students worked all 12
3434 hours and then went to the courthouse to see the returns
3535 come in; and
3636 WHEREAS, the training each year is done by Judge of
3737 Probate Scott Hassell, who organized the program; the
3838 students were trained to use the computer program that each

6868 students were trained to use the computer program that each
6969 polling place utilizes; they were also educated in job
7070 responsibilities and rules and were trained in how to use
7171 the voting machines; and
7272 WHEREAS, the students enjoy this activity, and many
7373 look forward each year to participating; some of them are
7474 motivated to seek jobs and involvement in politics in their
7575 future and many return after graduating to continue to
7676 volunteer; and
7777 WHEREAS, the volunteers from Hokes Bluff High School
7878 who participated in the 2024 Election are Anthony Delvalle,
