17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly |

18 | 18 | | presented to the students of Hokes Bluff High School for |

19 | 19 | | serving at various polling locations during the 2024 |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Hokes Bluff students covered 11 polling |

22 | 22 | | places throughout the county; some of these were close to |

23 | 23 | | the school, including Hokes Bluff Community Center and |
---|
24 | 24 | | Tillison Bend Water Authority, but many of the students |
---|
25 | 25 | | traveled a great distance to serve at Mountainboro Fire |
---|
26 | 26 | | Department, Lookout Mountain Community Center, and Noccalula |
---|
27 | 27 | | Kiwannis Pavilion; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, working at these polling places allowed the |

29 | 29 | | students to get to know different people and learn the |
---|
30 | 30 | | method of how elections work at the grassroots level; some |
---|
31 | 31 | | of their responsibilities included helping to check in |
---|
32 | 32 | | voters, validate identification, and handing out ballots and |
---|
33 | 33 | | helping turn them in; many of the students worked all 12 |
---|
34 | 34 | | hours and then went to the courthouse to see the returns |
---|
35 | 35 | | come in; and |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, the training each year is done by Judge of |

37 | 37 | | Probate Scott Hassell, who organized the program; the |
