15	15	HR___ COMMENDING THE STUDENTS OF HOKES BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOR
16	16	SERVING AT POLLING LOCATIONS DURING THE 2024 ELECTION.
17	17	WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly
18	18	presented to the students of Hokes Bluff High School for
19	19	serving at various polling locations during the 2024
20	20	election; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Hokes Bluff students covered 11 polling
22	22	places throughout the county; some of these were close to
23	23	the school, including Hokes Bluff Community Center and
24	24	Tillison Bend Water Authority, but many of the students
25	25	traveled a great distance to serve at Mountainboro Fire
26	26	Department, Lookout Mountain Community Center, and Noccalula
27	27	Kiwannis Pavilion; and
28	28	WHEREAS, working at these polling places allowed the
29	29	students to get to know different people and learn the
30	30	method of how elections work at the grassroots level; some
31	31	of their responsibilities included helping to check in
32	32	voters, validate identification, and handing out ballots and
33	33	helping turn them in; many of the students worked all 12
34	34	hours and then went to the courthouse to see the returns
35	35	come in; and
36	36	WHEREAS, the training each year is done by Judge of
37	37	Probate Scott Hassell, who organized the program; the
38	38	students were trained to use the computer program that each

68	68	students were trained to use the computer program that each
69	69	polling place utilizes; they were also educated in job
70	70	responsibilities and rules and were trained in how to use
71	71	the voting machines; and
72	72	WHEREAS, the students enjoy this activity, and many
73	73	look forward each year to participating; some of them are
74	74	motivated to seek jobs and involvement in politics in their
75	75	future and many return after graduating to continue to
76	76	volunteer; and
77	77	WHEREAS, the volunteers from Hokes Bluff High School
78	78	who participated in the 2024 Election are Anthony Delvalle,
