46	46	LARRY BLAKENEY, FOR BEING ENSHRINED INTO THE COLLEGE
47	47	FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME, CLASS OF 2025.
48	48	WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, Troy
49	49	University's winningest coach, Larry Blakeney, is highly
50	50	commended and congratulated for being enshrined into the
51	51	College Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2025; the event will
52	52	take place during the 37th National Football Foundation
53	53	Awards Dinner; and
54	54	WHEREAS, Birmingham, Alabama, native and former
55	55	Auburn quarterback under Shug Jordan, Coach Larry Blakeney,
56	56	is the all-time winningest coach in both Troy University
57	57	(TROY) and Sun Belt Conference (SBC) history, holding a
58	58	20-win advantage over the next closest competitor; he now
59	59	becomes the first-ever player or coach in TROY or SBC
60	60	history to enter the College Football Hall of Fame; and
61	61	WHEREAS, some of Coach Blakeney's career achievements
62	62	include: a career record of 178-113-1, winning 61.1 percent
63	63	of his games in his 24 seasons at TROY; guiding the Trojans
64	64	to seven Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoff
65	65	appearances in eight seasons; leading the Trojans to five
66	66	bowl games and securing victories in 2006 and 2010; guiding
67	67	TROY to eight conference championships, including three in
68	68	the Southland Conference (SLC), before achieving an SBC

98	98	the Southland Conference (SLC), before achieving an SBC
99	99	record of five consecutive titles from 2006-2010; and
100	100	WHEREAS, Coach Blakeney led TROY'S transition from
101	101	NCAA Division II to Division I in 1993 at the FCS level and
102	102	further led the Trojans to the Football Bowl Subdivision
103	103	(FBS) in 2002; he is one of only two coaches to lead a
104	104	program from Division II to the FBS, a feat that earned him
105	105	many accolades during its progression; he was named
106	106	conference Coach of the Year twice each in the SLC and SBC
107	107	and two-time American Football Coaches Association Regional
108	108	Coach of the Year; he has been inducted into the Wiregrass
109	109	Sports Hall of Fame, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, and
110	110	the inaugural class of the Troy University Sports Hall of
111	111	Fame; now therefore,
112	112	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
113	113	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Coach Larry Blakeney, a legend
114	114	of the Troy University Football Program, is highly commended
115	115	and congratulated for his well-earned and historic induction
116	116	into the College Football Hall of Fame, and this resolution
117	117	is offered to him with our highest regard and best wishes
118	118	for continued health, happiness, and prosperity.
