15	15	HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ROLAND
16	16	MIXON, SR.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with deep sadness that we note the
18	18	death of Roland Mixon, Sr. on February 3, 2025, at the age
19	19	of 84; his passing leaves a void in the lives of his loving
20	20	family, many friends, and the community, where he was highly
21	21	regarded; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Roland Mixon was born on February 10, 1940,
23	23	in Birmingham, to the union of Essie Mae and Robuster Mixon;
24	24	he graduated from Westfield High School in 1959, and
25	25	embarked on a life filled with dedication and hard work; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Roland Mixon accepted Christ at an early age
27	27	and remained a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist
28	28	Church in Hueytown throughout his life; his service to the
29	29	church was unwavering, and he faithfully served as a Deacon,
30	30	Bass Choir Member, Clothes Closet Member, Evangelism
31	31	Ministry Member, and Sunday School Teacher; and
32	32	WHEREAS, he was blessed to marry the love of his
33	33	life, Eunice Fay Watkins, on April 11, 1959, and together
34	34	they built a loving family, welcoming four children: Janice,
35	35	Alesia, Roland, Jr., and Kendra; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Roland Mixon was known to be a diligent and
37	37	devoted employeee; he worked at Hillman Hospital, U.S.
38	38	Pipeshop, Concord Mines, and ultimately at Oak Grove Mine,

68	68	Pipeshop, Concord Mines, and ultimately at Oak Grove Mine,
69	69	where he dedicated over 30 years as a coal miner; his strong
70	70	work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were
71	71	evident in all that he did; and
72	72	WHEREAS, Roland Mixon was preceded in death by his
73	73	parents; sister, Annie Ruth Mixon Brown; grandmother,
74	74	Mahalia Scott; aunt, Willie Scott Woods; and nephew, Kerry
75	75	Mixon, Sr.; and
76	76	WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving and cherished
77	77	wife of 65 years, Eunice Fay Mixon; children, Janice Towns
78	78	(Gregory), Alesia Leggett (Robert), Roland "Mickey" Mixon,
79	79	Jr. (Venice), and Kendra Mixon; 11 grandchildren; 11
80	80	great-grandchildren; and a host of other much-loved and
81	81	devoted close family members and friends; and
82	82	WHEREAS, Roland Mixon lived a life of faith, service,
83	83	and love; he leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
84	84	the passage of time and remain as a comforting memory to all
85	85	who were privileged to have known and loved him; now
86	86	therefore,
87	87	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
88	88	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Roland Mixon, Sr.
89	89	is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
90	90	offered in tribute to his life and legacy, along with
91	91	heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by
92	92	many.
