HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF TAMELA
SELMAR-BURKS.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
death of Tamela Selmar-Burks of Montgomery, Alabama, on
February 12, 2025, at the age of 53; and 
WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
was highly regarded; and 
WHEREAS, Tamela received her education from
Montgomery Public Schools and graduated from Sidney Lanier
High School, Class of 1989; she earned an associate degree
from Trenholm State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts
in Human Resource Management from Troy University; she
worked in the human resources field for more than 20 years,
including Buffalo Rock Company, Alorica, and Three Folds
Care, Incorporated; and 
WHEREAS, known to be of generous heart and spirit,
Tamela was a member of the Junior League of Montgomery,
where she served on many committees, and a charter member
and board member of the Southeast Regional Chapter of the
Gospel Music Workshop of America, affectionately known as
"The Fellowship"; she faithfully attended worship services
at First Baptist Church of Greater Washington Park, where
she sang in the Mass Choir, the Women's Choir, and the

she sang in the Mass Choir, the Women's Choir, and the
Praise Team; and
WHEREAS, Tamela was preceded in death by her mother,
Callie L. Selmar; grandmother, Donnie Jones; and brother,
Jerome Selmar; she will be lovingly remembered by her
father, Bennie Wright; twin sister, Pamela L. Selmar;
children, Kimberly Selmar, Kaleb Selmar, and Kameron Selmar;
grandchildren, Kimaria Selmar and Kemari Selmar; and a host
of extended family and many friends; and
WHEREAS, Tamela was the life of the party and was
always ready to laugh and dance; although her joyful
presence will be greatly missed, the memory of Tamela
Selmar-Burks will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew
and loved her; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Tamela
Selmar-Burks is recorded with deep sadness, and this
resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
shared by many.
