1515 HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF TAMELA
1616 SELMAR-BURKS.
1717 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
1818 death of Tamela Selmar-Burks of Montgomery, Alabama, on
1919 February 12, 2025, at the age of 53; and
2020 WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
2121 her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
2222 was highly regarded; and
2323 WHEREAS, Tamela received her education from
2424 Montgomery Public Schools and graduated from Sidney Lanier
2525 High School, Class of 1989; she earned an associate degree
2626 from Trenholm State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts
2727 in Human Resource Management from Troy University; she
2828 worked in the human resources field for more than 20 years,
2929 including Buffalo Rock Company, Alorica, and Three Folds
3030 Care, Incorporated; and
3131 WHEREAS, known to be of generous heart and spirit,
3232 Tamela was a member of the Junior League of Montgomery,
3333 where she served on many committees, and a charter member
3434 and board member of the Southeast Regional Chapter of the
3535 Gospel Music Workshop of America, affectionately known as
3636 "The Fellowship"; she faithfully attended worship services
3737 at First Baptist Church of Greater Washington Park, where
3838 she sang in the Mass Choir, the Women's Choir, and the

6868 she sang in the Mass Choir, the Women's Choir, and the
6969 Praise Team; and
7070 WHEREAS, Tamela was preceded in death by her mother,
7171 Callie L. Selmar; grandmother, Donnie Jones; and brother,
7272 Jerome Selmar; she will be lovingly remembered by her
7373 father, Bennie Wright; twin sister, Pamela L. Selmar;
7474 children, Kimberly Selmar, Kaleb Selmar, and Kameron Selmar;
7575 grandchildren, Kimaria Selmar and Kemari Selmar; and a host
7676 of extended family and many friends; and
7777 WHEREAS, Tamela was the life of the party and was
7878 always ready to laugh and dance; although her joyful
7979 presence will be greatly missed, the memory of Tamela
8080 Selmar-Burks will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew
8181 and loved her; now therefore,
8282 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8383 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Tamela
8484 Selmar-Burks is recorded with deep sadness, and this
8585 resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
8686 and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
8787 shared by many.
