1515 HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF
1616 BEVERLY CUNNINGHAM LESTER.
1717 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
1818 death of Beverly Cunningham Lester on February 18, 2025, at
1919 the age of 84; and
2020 WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
2121 her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
2222 was highly regarded; and
2323 WHEREAS, Beverly was born in Anderson, South
2424 Carolina, on January 31, 1941, to Harold Blain and Maggie
2525 Mae Oliver, who raised their daughter with the values of
2626 hard work, faith, and compassion; and
2727 WHEREAS, after graduating from West Side High School,
2828 Class of 1959, Beverly matriculated to Voorhees University,
2929 where she pursued her passion for nursing and attained her
3030 LPN license upon graduating the nursing program; and
3131 WHEREAS, Beverly dedicated her career to caring for
3232 others, serving in various hospitals, including Mary Black
3333 Hospital, Spartanburg Regional Hospital, Anderson Memorial
3434 Hospital, and Allen Bennett Hospital; she retired from
3535 nursing while in service to Camp Haven Nursing Home, Valley
3636 Falls Nursing Home, and Mountain View Nursing Home, where
3737 she brought comfort and joy to countless patients during
3838 their twilight years; and

6969 WHEREAS, Beverly served in many ways in her
7070 community; she was a dedicated volunteer at Spartanburg Soup
7171 Kitchen, where she found joy in feeding and uplifting the
7272 homeless; as a faithful member of The House of David, she
7373 served as the head of the Hospitality Ministry and the
7474 Medical Ministry, ensuring that all were cared for both
7575 physically and spiritually; and
7676 WHEREAS, beyond her dedication to others, Beverly
7777 embraced life with passion and joy; she enjoyed traveling,
7878 reading, decorating, her ministry work, and spending
7979 cherished moments with friends and family; she enjoyed
8080 watching cowboy and western movies, collecting horse
8181 figurines, and the companionship of her pets, Max and
8282 Keebler; she was a devoted mother, grandmother,
8383 great-grandmother, nurse, and servant of God; and
8484 WHEREAS, Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved
8585 husband, Dr. Clarence Martin Lester, Sr.; son, Matthew
8686 Lester; and grandson, Jaleen Martin Lester; she will be
8787 lovingly remembered by her children, Clarissa Lester Kenty
8888 (Ernest), Clarence Martin Lester, Jr. (Monica), and Michael
8989 Angelo Lester; eight grandchildren; four
9090 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended
9191 family, and close friends; and
9292 WHEREAS, Beverly was a woman of grace, wisdom, and
9393 kindness; although her joyful presence will be greatly
9494 missed, the memory of Beverly Lester will be cherished in
9595 the hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore,

125125 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
126126 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Beverly Cunningham
127127 Lester is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
128128 offered to her family in tribute to her life and with
129129 heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is shared
130130 by many.
