Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to the City of Scottsboro in Jackson County;
to extend the terms of office of the Mayor of the City of
Scottsboro, the members of the City Council of the City of
Scottsboro, and the members of the Scottsboro City Board of
Education for the purpose of revising the election dates for
the general municipal election in the city.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. This act shall apply only to the City of
Scottsboro in Jackson County.
Section 2. The terms of office of the members of the
City Council of the City of Scottsboro set to expire in 2026
shall be extended by one additional year to expire in 2027.
Successors to the offices of members of the city council whose
terms expire in 2027 shall be elected at the general municipal
election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in August 2027, and
every four years thereafter.
Section 3. The term of office of the Mayor of the City
of Scottsboro set to expire in 2028 and the terms of office of
the members of the City Council of the City of Scottsboro set
to expire in 2028 shall be extended by one additional year to
expire in 2029. A successor to the Office of Mayor and
successors to the offices of members of the city council whose
terms expire in 2029 shall be elected at a general municipal
election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in August 2029, and
every four years thereafter. 
Section 4. The terms of office of members of the

Section 4. The terms of office of members of the
Scottsboro City Board of Education set to expire in 2026 shall
be extended by one additional year to expire in 2027.
Successors to the offices of members of the city board of
education whose terms expire in 2027 shall be elected at the
general municipal election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in
August 2027, and every six years thereafter.
Section 5. The terms of office of members of the
Scottsboro City Board of Education set to expire in either
2028 or 2030 shall be extended by one additional year to
expire in either 2029 or 2031, respectively. Successors to the
offices of members of the city board of education shall be
elected at the fourth Tuesday in either August 2029 or August
2031, in the year the term of the member expires, and every
six years thereafter.
Section 6. After the effective date of this act, if no
candidate for mayor, member of the city council, or member of
the city board of education receives a majority of votes cast
in the regular municipal election, a second or run-off
election shall be held on the fourth Tuesday following the
regular election.
Section 7. All laws or parts of laws which conflict
with this act are repealed.
Section 8. This act shall become effective June 1,
2025.
