1618 Relating to Mobile County; to further provide for the
1719 compensation of the judge of probate; and to repeal Act
1820 443-1967, 1967 Regular Session, relating to the compensation
1921 of the judge of probate.
2022 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2123 Section 1. (a) Until January 20, 2031, the Mobile
2224 County Judge of Probate shall continue to receive the same
2325 base annual salary the judge of probate is receiving on
2426 February 1, 2025.
2527 (b) Beginning June 1, 2025, in addition to the base
2628 salary authorized in subsection (a), the judge of probate
2729 shall receive an expense allowance of forty-nine thousand
2830 dollars ($49,000) per annum, payable in equal monthly
2931 installments from the county general fund.
3032 (c) Beginning January 20, 2031, the judge of probate's
3133 base salary authorized in subsection (a) shall be increased by
3234 forty-nine thousand dollars ($49,000) per annum and the
3335 expense allowance authorized in subsection (b) is repealed.
3436 (d)(1) Beginning June 1, 2025, the judge of probate
3537 shall be entitled to all uniform increases in compensation
36-provided to county employees.
37-(2) The amount of any uniform increase granted to the
38-judge of probate shall be based on the judge of probate's
39-total compensation.
40-(3) Any uniform increase in compensation granted to the
41-judge of probate during a term of office shall be paid as an

67+shall be entitled to all uniform increases in compensation

69+(2) The amount of any uniform increase granted to the
70+judge of probate shall be based on the judge of probate's

72+(3) Any uniform increase in compensation granted to the
7173 judge of probate during a term of office shall be paid as an
7274 expense allowance until the start of the next term of office.
7375 (4) At the beginning of each term of office, any
7476 uniform increase in compensation provided to the judge of
7577 probate during the previous term of office shall be converted
7678 to salary and any converted expense allowance is repealed.
7779 (5) Any expense allowance provided pursuant to this
7880 section shall be treated as salary for retirement purposes.
7981 Section 2. Act 443, 1967 Regular Session (Acts 1967,
8082 p. 1116), relating to the compensation of the Judge of Probate
8183 of Mobile County, is repealed.
8284 Section 3. This act shall become effective on June 1,
8385 2025.
