| 16 | 16 | | Under existing law, certain households are |

| 67 | 67 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: |

| 68 | 68 | | Section 1. Except as otherwise required by federal law, |
|---|
| 69 | 69 | | the State Department of Human Resources may not: |
|---|
| 70 | 70 | | (1) Apply gross income standards for food assistance, |
|---|
| 71 | 71 | | including the Supplemental Nutrition Assitance Program (SNAP), |
|---|
| 72 | 72 | | higher than the standards specified in 7 U.S.C. ยง 2014(c); or |
|---|
| 73 | 73 | | (2) Grant categorical eligibility for food assistance |
|---|
| 74 | 74 | | or SNAP benefits that exempts households from the gross income |
|---|
| 75 | 75 | | standard under subdivision (1) for any noncash, in-kind, or |
|---|
| 76 | 76 | | other benefit. |
