1515 SYNOPSIS:
1616 This bill would propose an amendment to the
1717 Constitution of Alabama of 2022, relating to Montgomery
1818 County, to provide that members of the Montgomery
1919 County Board of Education serve two-year terms.

2323 To propose an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama
2424 of 2022, relating to Montgomery County, to amend Section
2525 51-5.00 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to further
2626 provide for the terms of office of the Montgomery County Board
2727 of Education.
2828 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2929 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution
3030 of Alabama of 2022, is proposed:
3131 PROPOSED AMENDMENT
3232 Section 51-5.00 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022,
3333 is amended to read as follows:

3535 As terms of office on the Montgomery County Board of
3636 Education expire, new members shall be elected to the board

6868 Upon ratification of this constitutional amendment, the
6969 Code Commissioner shall number and place this amendment as
7070 appropriate in the constitution omitting this instructional
7171 paragraph and may make the following nonsubstantive revisions:
7272 change capitalization, hierarchy, spelling, and punctuation
7373 for purposes of style and uniformity; correct manifest
7474 grammatical, clerical, and typographical errors; revise
7575 internal or external citations and cross-references; harmonize
7676 language; and translate effective dates.
7777 END PROPOSED AMENDMENT
7878 Section 2. An election upon the proposed amendment
7979 shall be held in accordance with Sections 284, 284.01, and 285
8080 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, and the election laws
8181 of this state. The appropriate election official shall assign
8282 a ballot number for the proposed constitutional amendment on
8383 the election ballot and shall set forth the following
8484 description of the substance or subject matter of the proposed
8585 constitutional amendment:
8686 "Relating to Montgomery County, proposing an amendment
8787 to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to provide that
8888 members of the Montgomery County Board of Education serve
8989 two-year terms.
9090 Proposed by Act ____."
9191 This description shall be followed by the following
9292 language:
9393 "Yes( ) No( )."
9494 Section 3. The proposed amendment shall become valid as

124124 Section 3. The proposed amendment shall become valid as
125125 part of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, when approved by
126126 a majority of the qualified electors voting thereon.
