26	25		SJR___ COMMENDING LEGENDARY TROY UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL COACH,
27	26		LARRY BLAKENEY, FOR BEING ENSHRINED INTO THE COLLEGE
28	27		FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME, CLASS OF 2025.
29	28		WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, Troy
30	29		University's winningest coach, Larry Blakeney, is highly
31	30		commended and congratulated for being enshrined into the
32	31		College Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2025; the event will
33	32		take place during the 37th National Football Foundation
34	33		Awards Dinner; and
35	34		WHEREAS, Birmingham, Alabama, native and former
36	35		Auburn quarterback under Shug Jordan, Coach Larry Blakeney,
37	36		is the all-time winningest coach in both Troy University
38	37		(TROY) and Sun Belt Conference (SBC) history, holding a
39	38		20-win advantage over the next closest competitor; he now
40	39		becomes the first-ever player or coach in TROY or SBC
41	40		history to enter the College Football Hall of Fame; and
42	41		WHEREAS, some of Coach Blakeney's career achievements
43	42		include: a career record of 178-113-1, winning 61.1 percent
44	43		of his games in his 24 seasons at TROY; guiding the Trojans
45	44		to seven Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoff
46	45		appearances in eight seasons; leading the Trojans to five
47	46		bowl games and securing victories in 2006 and 2010; guiding
48	47		TROY to eight conference championships, including three in
49	48		the Southland Conference (SLC), before achieving an SBC

79	78		the Southland Conference (SLC), before achieving an SBC
80	79		record of five consecutive titles from 2006-2010; and
81	80		WHEREAS, Coach Blakeney led TROY'S transition from
82	81		NCAA Division II to Division I in 1993 at the FCS level and
83	82		further led the Trojans to the Football Bowl Subdivision
84	83		(FBS) in 2002; he is one of only two coaches to lead a
85	84		program from Division II to the FBS, a feat that earned him
86	85		many accolades during its progression; he was named
87	86		conference Coach of the Year twice each in the SLC and SBC
88	87		and two-time American Football Coaches Association Regional
89	88		Coach of the Year; he has been inducted into the Wiregrass
90	89		Sports Hall of Fame, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, and
91	90		the inaugural class of the Troy University Sports Hall of
92	91		Fame; now therefore,
93	92		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
94	93		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Coach Larry Blakeney, a
95	94		legend of the Troy University Football Program, is highly
96	95		commended and congratulated for his well-earned and historic
97	96		induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, and this
98	97		resolution is offered to him with our highest regard and
99	98		best wishes for continued health, happiness, and prosperity.
