SJR___ ACKNOWLEDGING THE ALABAMA GROCERS ASSOCIATION ON ITS
35TH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to acknowledge the Alabama
Grocers Association on the occasion of its 35th Anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Grocers Association is a
professional trade association comprising retail grocers,
wholesalers, manufacturers, brokers, and others who supply
goods and services to the food distributing industry; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Grocers Association was
established 35 years ago and currently has more than 350
members and over 850 retail outlets; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Alabama Grocers
Association is to promote the growth and success of the food
industry in Alabama through advocacy, education, public
relations, and networking; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Grocers Association serves as an
advocate, resource, and community for Alabama's grocery
industry, connecting members and supporting their success;
and
WHEREAS, the food retail industry in Alabama provides
over 188,000 jobs with over $6.8 billion in annual wages;
the industry contributes over $1.5 billion in state taxes
and has a total economic impact on the state's economy of

and has a total economic impact on the state's economy of
over $18 billion; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Grocers Association plays a
significant role in the state's economy and is recognized
for its service to the food distribution industry in
Alabama; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That in recognition of Alabama
Grocers Association Day, we acknowledge the Alabama Grocers
Association and extend our congratulations on its 35th
Anniversary.
