16	15		SJR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND HONORING THE LIFE OF DONALD
17	16		WAYNE ARMSTRONG.
18	17		WHEREAS, the death of Mr. Donald Wayne Armstrong of
19	18		Wilsonville, Alabama, on March 6, 2025, is noted with
20	19		sadness, and his long and full life of 84 years is commended
21	20		and celebrated with thanksgiving ; and
22	21		WHEREAS, born on August 15, 1940, to J.C. and Amy
23	22		Armstrong, Donald Wayne Armstrong graduated from Shelby
24	23		County High School in 1958 and later earned a Bachelor
25	24		Degree in Business from Alabama College, now known as the
26	25		University of Montevallo ; and
27	26		WHEREAS, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in
28	27		1963, serving with valor for six years; his career included
29	28		work with U.S. Steel, as well as nine years at USS
30	29		Agri-Chemical in Albany, Georgia ; and
31	30		WHEREAS, while his service in Shelby County began in
32	31		the 1980s, his most significant contributions started when
33	32		he served as a Shelby County Commissioner from 1991 to 2005 ;
34	33		and
35	34		WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, Mr. Armstrong
36	35		dedicated himself to serving as the Shelby County's Property
37	36		Tax Commissioner, making a profound impact both
38	37		professionally and personally; his numerous professional
39	38		awards reflect his unwavering commitment to serving others,

70	69		a dedication deeply rooted in his strong faith ; and
71	70		WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was ordained as a deacon at
72	71		Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, and has
73	72		faithfully served his church family at First Baptist Church
74	73		of Columbiana for 43 years ; and
75	74		WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong thoroughly enjoyed hunting and
76	75		fishing, and maintained an exceptionally strong golf game
77	76		throughout his life; above all, he cherished spending time
78	77		with his family, creating countless memories with those he
79	78		loved most; and
80	79		WHEREAS, he endured profound loss with the passing of
81	80		his beloved wife of 49 years, Virginia, in 2011; he later
82	81		faced the heartbreaking loss of their two sons, Scott and
83	82		Shane; through these difficult times, he found unwavering
84	83		strength in his deep and abiding faith, which he always
85	84		credited as his source of resilience ; and
86	85		WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his
87	86		sister-in-law, Ann Armstrong; nephew, Mark Armstrong
88	87		(Kelly); nieces, Carol Harrison (Ken) and Allison Campbell
89	88		(Luke); great-nephews, Jon Harrison and Matthew Campbell;
90	89		great-nieces, Jaselyn Tidmore (Jacob), Jana Baker (Chase),
91	90		Jennifer Matzke (Austin), and Jill Harrison; and
92	91		great-great-nephews, Jackson Tidmore and Jon Calvin Baker ;

94	93		WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was a valuable member of the
95	94		community and patriarch of his family, and he formed many
96	95		devoted friendships through the years; he will be
97	96		sorrowfully missed, but countless remembrances of his

131	130		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
132	131		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That while mourning the death of
133	132		Mr. Donald Wayne Armstrong, it is comforting to offer
134	133		gratitude for his long and meaningful life, and by copy of
135	134		this resolution, heartfelt sympathy is extended to his
