1615 SJR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND HONORING THE LIFE OF DONALD
1716 WAYNE ARMSTRONG.
1817 WHEREAS, the death of Mr. Donald Wayne Armstrong of
1918 Wilsonville, Alabama, on March 6, 2025, is noted with
2019 sadness, and his long and full life of 84 years is commended
2120 and celebrated with thanksgiving ; and
2221 WHEREAS, born on August 15, 1940, to J.C. and Amy
2322 Armstrong, Donald Wayne Armstrong graduated from Shelby
2423 County High School in 1958 and later earned a Bachelor
2524 Degree in Business from Alabama College, now known as the
2625 University of Montevallo ; and
2726 WHEREAS, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in
2827 1963, serving with valor for six years; his career included
2928 work with U.S. Steel, as well as nine years at USS
3029 Agri-Chemical in Albany, Georgia ; and
3130 WHEREAS, while his service in Shelby County began in
3231 the 1980s, his most significant contributions started when
3332 he served as a Shelby County Commissioner from 1991 to 2005 ;
3433 and
3534 WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, Mr. Armstrong
3635 dedicated himself to serving as the Shelby County's Property
3736 Tax Commissioner, making a profound impact both
3837 professionally and personally; his numerous professional
3938 awards reflect his unwavering commitment to serving others,

6968 awards reflect his unwavering commitment to serving others,
7069 a dedication deeply rooted in his strong faith ; and
7170 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was ordained as a deacon at
7271 Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, and has
7372 faithfully served his church family at First Baptist Church
7473 of Columbiana for 43 years ; and
7574 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong thoroughly enjoyed hunting and
7675 fishing, and maintained an exceptionally strong golf game
7776 throughout his life; above all, he cherished spending time
7877 with his family, creating countless memories with those he
7978 loved most; and
8079 WHEREAS, he endured profound loss with the passing of
8180 his beloved wife of 49 years, Virginia, in 2011; he later
8281 faced the heartbreaking loss of their two sons, Scott and
8382 Shane; through these difficult times, he found unwavering
8483 strength in his deep and abiding faith, which he always
8584 credited as his source of resilience ; and
8685 WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his
8786 sister-in-law, Ann Armstrong; nephew, Mark Armstrong
8887 (Kelly); nieces, Carol Harrison (Ken) and Allison Campbell
8988 (Luke); great-nephews, Jon Harrison and Matthew Campbell;
9089 great-nieces, Jaselyn Tidmore (Jacob), Jana Baker (Chase),
9190 Jennifer Matzke (Austin), and Jill Harrison; and
9291 great-great-nephews, Jackson Tidmore and Jon Calvin Baker ;
9392 and
9493 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was a valuable member of the
9594 community and patriarch of his family, and he formed many
9695 devoted friendships through the years; he will be
9796 sorrowfully missed, but countless remembrances of his
