25	25	SR____ COMMEMORATING THE 79TH SOUTHERN LEGISLATIVE
26	26	CONFERENCE OF THE COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS SOUTHERN

28	28	WHEREAS, The Council of State Governments Southern
29	29	Office (CSG South) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit member
30	30	organization that serves the Southern Legislatures of
31	31	Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana,
32	32	Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South
33	33	Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia; and
34	34	WHEREAS, with regionally based leadership,
35	35	perspective, and national level resources, CSG South
36	36	provides Southern legislators and government staff with a
37	37	wide variety of programs and services that facilitate
38	38	regional cooperation and encourage the exchange of
39	39	information; and
40	40	WHEREAS, the mission of the organization is to serve
41	41	as a community of the states, committed to connecting,
42	42	informing, inspiring, and empowering public servants in all
43	43	three branches of state government to put the best ideas and
44	44	solutions into practice; and
45	45	WHEREAS, in pursuit of this mission, CSG South has
46	46	convened the Southern Legislative Conference for the past 78
47	47	years with decades of fellowship and cooperation between the
48	48	Southern states; the 79th Southern Legislative Conference

79	79	will convene in Birmingham, Alabama, from July 19 to 23,
80	80	2025; and
81	81	WHEREAS, more than 1,500 Southern legislators,
82	82	government staff, and their families will gather to discuss
83	83	policy matters specifically affecting Southern states to
84	84	bridge commonalities and discuss solutions for current
85	85	policy trends, challenges, and opportunities; now therefore,
86	86	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE LEGISLATURE OF
87	87	ALABAMA, That The Council of State Governments Southern
88	88	Office is highly commended for holding the annual Southern
89	89	Legislative Conference, and we welcome all attending
90	90	Southern legislative, executive, and judicial officials to
91	91	our great State of Alabama for the 2025 conference.
