28 | 27 | | SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 6-18-202(b)(1) and (2), concerning the 24 |
---|
29 | 28 | | individuals for whom public schools of any school district in the State of 25 |
---|
30 | 29 | | Arkansas shall be open and free, are amended to read as follows: 26 |
---|
31 | 30 | | (b)(1) The public schools of any school district in this st ate shall 27 |
---|
32 | 31 | | be open and free through completion of the secondary program to all persons 28 |
---|
33 | 32 | | in this state between five (5) and twenty -one (21) years of age whose: 29 |

34 | 33 | | (A) Whose parent, legal guardian, person having lawful 30 |

98 | 97 | | (B) A quarantine required under subdivision (c)(1)(A) of 14 |

99 | 98 | | this section shall not exceed seven (7) days unless otherwise recommended by 15 |

101 | 100 | | (2) Expel or suspend the international exchange student from the 17 |

102 | 101 | | public school based on a: 18 |
---|
103 | 102 | | (A) Violation of the school district's written student 19 |
---|
104 | 103 | | discipline policies, as required under § 6 -18-507; or 20 |
---|
105 | 104 | | (B) Danger that the international exchange student 21 |
---|
106 | 105 | | presents to the students attending a nd individuals employed by the school 22 |
---|

108 | 107 | | (3)(A) Establish a limit on the total number of international 24 |
---|
109 | 108 | | exchange students each public school within the public school district may 25 |
---|
110 | 109 | | accept for enrollment in each public school. 26 |

111 | 110 | | (B) A limit established for a public school under 27 |
---|
112 | 111 | | subdivision (c)(3)(A) of this section shall be no fewer than one (1) 28 |
---|
113 | 112 | | international exchange student per fifty (50) students enrolled in the public 29 |
---|
114 | 113 | | school in which the international exchange student intends to enroll 30 |
---|
115 | 114 | | according to the school's average daily membership in the school year 31 |
