| 26 | 25 | | (a) Effective January 1, 2026, the offices of sheriff and tax 22 |

| 27 | 26 | | collector in Hempstead County, Arkansas, shall be separate offices. 23 |

| 28 | 27 | | (b) At the 2026 general election, the elector s of Hempstead County 24 |
|---|
| 29 | 28 | | shall elect both a sheriff and a tax collector, and each officer so elected 25 |
|---|
| 30 | 29 | | shall take office on January 1, 2027. 26 |

| 31 | 30 | | (c) The sheriff and the tax collector in Hempstead County shall each 27 |

| 32 | 31 | | give bond for the faithful performance of their r espective duties as provided 28 |

| 34 | 33 | | (d) The sheriff and the tax collector of Hempstead County shall each 30 |

| 35 | 34 | | receive compensation that shall be determined by the Hempstead County Quorum 31 |
