2121 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 1 -5-101 is amended to read as follows: 19

2323 (a) The following days are declared to be the sole official holidays 21
2424 applicable to state government in Arkansas: 22
2525 (1) New Year's Day — January 1; 23
2626 (2) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday — the third Monday in 24

2828 (3) George Washington's Birthday and Daisy Gatson Bates Day — 26

3030 (4) Good Friday – the Friday immediately preceding Easter 28

4343 (b) A holiday falling on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding 3
4444 Friday. A holiday falling on a Sunday will be observed on the succeeding 4

4646 (c) It is the specific intent of the General Assembly that all state 6
