AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR ENROLLMENT IN A 9 
HOME SCHOOL; TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PUBLIC 10 
SCHOOL STUDENT RETURN TEMPORARILY ISSUED ITEMS, 11 
RESOURCES, MATERIALS, AND PROPERTY BELONGING TO A 12 
PUBLIC SCHOOL IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN A 13 
HOME SCHOOL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 14

TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PUBLIC 18 
SCHOOL STUDENT RETURN TEMPORARILY ISSUED 19 
ITEMS, RESOURCES, MATERIALS, AND 20 
PROPERTY BELONGING TO A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN 21 
ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN A HOME 22 
SCHOOL. 23

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 25 
 26 
 SECTION 1.  Arkansas Code ยง 6 -15-503(f), concerning the requirement to 27 
return certain items to a public school in order to be eligible to enroll in 28 
a home school, is repealed. 29 
 (f)(1) A student who is enrolled in a public school and who has been 30 
temporarily issued items, resources, supplies, materials, or other property 31 
belonging to the public school at which he or she is enrolled is eligible for 32 
enrollment in a home school after: 33 
 (A) The items, resources, supplies, materials, or other 34 
property belonging to the public school district at which the student is 35 
enrolled have been returned to the public school; 36    	HB1490

 (B) The items, resources, supplies, materials, or other 1 
property belonging to the public school district at which the student is 2 
enrolled have been paid for; or 3 
 (C) The semester has ended. 4 
 (2) However, the public school district superintendent or the 5 
local school district board of directors may waive the required five	-school-6 
day waiting period required under subdivision (a)(1)(B) of this section if 7 
the public school district superintendent or the local school district board 8 
of directors is satisfied with the return of temporarily issued items, 9 
resources, supplies, materials, or other property belonging to a public 10 
school student. 11
