2322 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 20

2524 SECTION 1. DO NOT CODIFY. Legislative findings. 22
2625 The General Assembly finds that: 23
2726 (1) Arkansas musicians are important to the cultural history of 24
2827 the state; 25
2928 (2) Arkansas musicians have made and continue to make important 26
3029 contributions to music in this state and beyond and deserve recognition; and 27
3130 (3) Arkansas Music Appreciation Day should be celebrated in the 28
3231 state by encouraging Arkansas musicians to come to the State Capitol Building 29
3332 each March 1 to increase public appreciation of Arkansas's contributions to 30
3433 music by playing music in the State Capitol Building rotunda. 31

3635 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 1 -5-117(b), concerning Arkansas Music 33
3736 Appreciation Day, is amended to read as follows: 34
3837 (b) September March 1 of each year shall be known as “Arkansas Music 35
3938 Appreciation Day” to honor the contributions of Arkansas musicians. 36 HB1556

4342 SECTION 3. Arkansas Code § 1 -5-117(d), concerning Arkansas Music 2
4443 Appreciation Day, is amended to read as follows: 3
4544 (d) Each year before September March 1, the Governor shall issue a 4
4645 proclamation proclaiming September March 1 as Arkansas Music Appreciation Day 5
4746 and in the proclamation shall: 6
4847 (1) Comment on the significance of the contributions that 7
4948 Arkansas musicians have made to the nation's music; and 8
5049 (2) Call upon the citizens of the state to observe Arkansas 9
5150 Music Appreciation Day. 10
