23	23	Department of Education as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools 21

26	26	WHEREAS, recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School is an impressive 24
27	27	honor based on a school's performance, with Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing 25
28	28	Schools recognized for excelling in narrowing achievement gaps between 26
29	29	different student groups and the overall student body; and 27

31	31	WHEREAS, National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective 29
32	32	school practices for state and district educators and other schools 30

36	36	Department of Education as having a strong collaboration with parents, 34
37	37	families, teachers, administrators, and the community towards its efforts in 35

42	42	WHEREAS, United States Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said, 2
43	43	“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional 3
44	44	achievements of students and educators at each of these schools. The 2024 4
45	45	National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, 5
46	46	serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in 6
47	47	their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us 7
48	48	look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the 8
49	49	foundation of a brighter future for every child"; and 9

51	51	WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School not only addresses academics but 11
52	52	also addresses the students' social, emotional, and physical needs through 12
53	53	endeavors such as the provision of needed clothing, food, and assistance at 13
54	54	Christmas, mental health referrals, and extra school guidance counselors; and 14

56	56	WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School utilizes a systemic approach to 16
57	57	address a student's academic deficits, including tutoring, interventions, 17
58	58	inclusive practices, high -quality instructional materials, and highly 18
59	59	effective teachers; and 19

61	61	WHEREAS, in addition, McGehee Elementary School emphasizes reading and 21
62	62	focuses on promoting literacy with not only the students but also with their 22

66	66	school, using all funding and available resources to accomplish outstanding 26
67	67	student achievement and growth while also holistically addressing the needs 27

83	83	THAT the House of Representatives recognize McGehee Elementary School 5
84	84	as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools National Blue Ribbon School 6

87	87	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be 9
88	88	provided to McGehee Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Robinson by the 10
89	89	Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives. 11
