2020 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker, a South Carolina native, began his 18
2121 broadcasting career in the United States Air Force in 1976 as an announcer 19
2222 with the American Forces Network Korea; and 20

2424 WHEREAS, after relocating to Arkansas, "Broadway" Joe Booker earned an 22
2525 associate degree at Arkansas State University and then earned a Bachelor of 23
2626 Arts at Arkansas Baptist College in African American Community Leadership; 24

2929 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker continued to hone his broadcasting 27
3030 skills, becoming well known in Central Arkansas as "Broadway Joe", and 28
3131 receiving accolades such as: 29
3232 (1) A nomination from Billboard Radio & Records for Station of 30
3333 the Year in 1993; 31
3434 (2) The Billboard Radio & Records award for Impact Program 32
3535 Director of the Year in 1994; 33
3636 (3) The National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio award 34
3737 for Medium Market Station of the Year for the entire nation; and 35

4343 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker started area promotional events such as 3
4444 Blues on the River and Juneteenth, collectively earning over one hundred 4
4545 forty thousand dollars ($140,000) for The Watershed, a Little Rock nonprofit 5
4646 devoted to transforming the lives of those it serves; and 6

4848 WHEREAS, some of the many humanitarian causes to which "Broadway" Joe 8
4949 Booker dedicates his life include the Power 92 Jammers basketball team, the 9
5050 Jacksonville Mighty Vikings youth football team, The Watershed annual 10
5151 Christmas Food Drive, Little Rock's Crisis Team and Gang Task Force, and the 11
5252 national OK Program to mentor African American men and boys; and 12

5454 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker is now the program director at Cumulus 14
5555 Media, Little Rock, program director at KIPR Power 92.3 Jams, and host of the 15
5656 "Broadway Joe Talk Show" and also the "Broadway Joe Video Show" which was the 16
5757 first Little Rock urban music video program; and 17

5959 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker remains convinced that connection to his 19
6060 audience transcends changing fashions and tastes and has been quoted as 20
6161 saying that "as African Americans, we expect to get all our information, 21
6262 education[,] and entertainment from our radio station, and that goes back to 22
6363 the 50s[,] 60s[,] and 70s"; and 23

6565 WHEREAS, "Broadway" Joe Booker says that family is the "key to all of 25
6666 his success", and he and wife Freddie have been married over thirty (30) 26
6767 years and are proud parents and grandparents, 27
