2323 WHEREAS, Jacob Seth Lofland was born on July 30, 1996, in Briggsville, 21
2424 Arkansas, to Debra and Billy Lofland, and is an actor widely known for his 22
2525 portrayal of "Neckbone", which was his first acting role, in the famed 23
2626 Arkansas-made film "Mud"; and 24

2828 WHEREAS, Lofland obtained the acting role in "Mud" during a time when 26
2929 his mother was working with a community group focused on bringing employment 27
3030 opportunities to Fourche Valley in Yell County, and she was excited to see a 28
3131 newspaper article noting that a Hollywood movie was going to be filming in 29
3232 east Arkansas; and 30

3434 WHEREAS, Lofland and his mother realized that Lofland perfectly fit the 32
3535 description of the boy the director of "Mud", Jeff Nichols, was seeking to 33
3636 cast as "Neckbone" because he was a teenaged Arkansas boy who could operate a 34

4242 Lofland took his first airplane ride for an audition for the film "Mud" held 2
4343 in Austin, Texas, and was offered the role within twenty -four (24) hours; and 3

4545 WHEREAS, the film "Mud", a coming -of-age tale reminiscent of The 5
4646 Adventures of Huckleberry Finn starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese 6
4747 Witherspoon, was a global critical success, and although Lofland was still a 7
4848 teenager, he decided to continue working as an actor; and 8

6565 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 25

6969 Lofland for his achievements in the field of acting, which have brought 29
