23	23	WHEREAS, Jacob Seth Lofland was born on July 30, 1996, in Briggsville, 21
24	24	Arkansas, to Debra and Billy Lofland, and is an actor widely known for his 22
25	25	portrayal of "Neckbone", which was his first acting role, in the famed 23
26	26	Arkansas-made film "Mud"; and 24

28	28	WHEREAS, Lofland obtained the acting role in "Mud" during a time when 26
29	29	his mother was working with a community group focused on bringing employment 27
30	30	opportunities to Fourche Valley in Yell County, and she was excited to see a 28
31	31	newspaper article noting that a Hollywood movie was going to be filming in 29
32	32	east Arkansas; and 30

34	34	WHEREAS, Lofland and his mother realized that Lofland perfectly fit the 32
35	35	description of the boy the director of "Mud", Jeff Nichols, was seeking to 33
36	36	cast as "Neckbone" because he was a teenaged Arkansas boy who could operate a 34
37	37	boat and ride a motorcycle; and 35

41	41	WHEREAS, fewer than three (3) weeks after seeing the open casting call, 1
42	42	Lofland took his first airplane ride for an audition for the film "Mud" held 2
43	43	in Austin, Texas, and was offered the role within twenty -four (24) hours; and 3

45	45	WHEREAS, the film "Mud", a coming -of-age tale reminiscent of The 5
46	46	Adventures of Huckleberry Finn starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese 6
47	47	Witherspoon, was a global critical success, and although Lofland was still a 7
48	48	teenager, he decided to continue working as an actor; and 8

50	50	WHEREAS, in addition to "Mud", Lofland has also appeared in "Little 10
51	51	Accidents", the fifth season of "Justified", television miniseries "Texas 11
52	52	Rising", "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials", "Free State of Jones", "Go North", 12
53	53	"Maze Runner: The Death Cure", two seasons of "The Son", "12 Mighty Orphans", 13
54	54	"A House on the Bayou", and "Joker: Folie a Deux" and is currently starring 14
55	55	in the first season of Taylor Sheridan's "Landman" with Billy Bob Thornton; 15

59	59	such as Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Elizabeth Banks, Timothy 19
60	60	Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Pierce Brosnan, Joaquin Phoenix, Dylan O'Brien, 20
61	61	Josh Lucas, and Billy Bob Thornton, the latter two of whom are, like Lofland, 21

65	65	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 25

68	68	THAT the House of Representatives recognize Arkansas actor Jacob 28
69	69	Lofland for his achievements in the field of acting, which have brought 29
70	70	renown to him and to the State of Arkansas. 30

72	72	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 32
73	73	presented to Jacob Lofland by the Chief Clerk of the House of 33
