22	22	WHEREAS, on March 5, 2025, Bonnie Pollock, who has been an educator for 20
23	23	twelve (12) years, received a prestigious Milken Educator Award and its 21
24	24	accompanying prize of twenty -five thousand dollars ($25,000); and 22

26	26	WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock currently teaches grade six (6) at Old High 24
27	27	Middle School in Bentonville, Arkansas; and 25

29	29	WHEREAS, the Milken Educator Award, also known as the "Oscars of 27
30	30	Teaching", is always presented in a surprise ceremony for recipients because 28
31	31	educators do not apply for the award but instead are confidentially 29
32	32	recommended to the Milken Family Foundation by a blue -ribbon panel appointed 30
33	33	by each state's department of education; and 31

35	35	WHEREAS, in addition to the prize of twenty -five thousand dollars 33
36	36	($25,000), recipients of the Milken Educator Award are paired with veteran 34
37	37	Milken Educator Award recipients as part of the mentorship program Milken 35

42	42	WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock has been invited to attend the annual Milken 2
43	43	Educator Awards Forum in Los Angeles, California, in April 2025; and 3

45	45	WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock is known for having a transformative classroom, 5
46	46	fostering collaboration, and propelling student growth; and 6

48	48	WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock said of her students, "Last year, Arkansas did 8
49	49	the first Civics Bee and I had five of the nine finalists at state from my 9
50	50	sixth-grade class. I [taught] sixth grade literacy and social studies last 10
51	51	year, so that was just a way to connect social studies and writing to a real -11
52	52	world thing"; and 12

54	54	WHEREAS, Secretary of the Department of Education Jacob Oliva said of 14
55	55	Bonnie Pollock's win, "We're talking about the great work that's happening in 15
56	56	the State of Arkansas that has been recognized at a national level. For our 16
57	57	teachers' names to go across the finish line is saying you're not only just 17
58	58	great in the State of Arkansas, but you're one of the greatest teachers in 18
59	59	the nation. It's something that we're very proud to be a part of"; and 19

62	62	overwhelmed . . . [The school administration is] pushing us to change and 22
63	63	think in creative ways . . . a lesson may go poorly, but I have the 23
