2222 WHEREAS, on March 5, 2025, Bonnie Pollock, who has been an educator for 20
2323 twelve (12) years, received a prestigious Milken Educator Award and its 21
2424 accompanying prize of twenty -five thousand dollars ($25,000); and 22

2626 WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock currently teaches grade six (6) at Old High 24
2727 Middle School in Bentonville, Arkansas; and 25

2929 WHEREAS, the Milken Educator Award, also known as the "Oscars of 27
3030 Teaching", is always presented in a surprise ceremony for recipients because 28
3131 educators do not apply for the award but instead are confidentially 29
3232 recommended to the Milken Family Foundation by a blue -ribbon panel appointed 30
3333 by each state's department of education; and 31

3535 WHEREAS, in addition to the prize of twenty -five thousand dollars 33
3636 ($25,000), recipients of the Milken Educator Award are paired with veteran 34
3737 Milken Educator Award recipients as part of the mentorship program Milken 35

4242 WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock has been invited to attend the annual Milken 2
4343 Educator Awards Forum in Los Angeles, California, in April 2025; and 3

4545 WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock is known for having a transformative classroom, 5
4646 fostering collaboration, and propelling student growth; and 6

4848 WHEREAS, Bonnie Pollock said of her students, "Last year, Arkansas did 8
4949 the first Civics Bee and I had five of the nine finalists at state from my 9
5050 sixth-grade class. I [taught] sixth grade literacy and social studies last 10
5151 year, so that was just a way to connect social studies and writing to a real -11

5454 WHEREAS, Secretary of the Department of Education Jacob Oliva said of 14
5555 Bonnie Pollock's win, "We're talking about the great work that's happening in 15
5656 the State of Arkansas that has been recognized at a national level. For our 16
5757 teachers' names to go across the finish line is saying you're not only just 17
5858 great in the State of Arkansas, but you're one of the greatest teachers in 18
