TO ACKNOWLEDGE SCHOOL BREAKFAST MONTH IN ARKANSAS; 10 
AND TO WORK TOWARD A SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE OF FOOD 11 
INSECURITY IN ARKANSAS. 12

TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE ISSUE OF FOOD 16 
INSECURITY; TO ACKNOWLEDGE SCHOOL 17 
BREAKFAST MONTH IN ARKANSAS; AND TO WORK 18 
TOWARD A SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE OF FOOD 19 
INSECURITY IN ARKANSAS. 20

 WHEREAS, Arkansas was ranked number one (1) in food insecurity in the 22 
United States based on 2023 survey responses in a report issued in 2024; and 23 
 24 
 WHEREAS, over nineteen percent (19%) of families report that they do 25 
not have access to enough food for active, healthy living, which contributes 26 
to diet-related health issues and other negative impacts; and 27 
 28 
 WHEREAS, nearly one (1) in four (4) children in Arkansas struggle with 29 
food insecurity, resulting in higher absences from school, lower test scores, 30 
and increased stress; and 31 
 32 
 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives is committed to improving the 33 
lives and health of Arkansans, 34 
 35 
NOW THEREFORE, 36    	HR1094

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 1 
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 2 
 3 
 THAT the House of Representatives shall act to: 4 
 (1)  Raise awareness about the issue of food insecurity and its 5 
causes by working with hunger relief organizations, healthcare groups, 6 
businesses, school nutrition directors, and others; 7 
 (2)  Encourage members of the House of Representatives to visit: 8 
 (A)  One (1) food pantry in their district; and 9 
 (B)  One (1) school in their district during School 10 
Breakfast Month; 11 
 (3)  Work to develop and enact policies to address the issue of 12 
food insecurity in addition to universal breakfast for public school 13 
children; and 14 
 (4)  Monitor and evaluate data related to actions taken by the 15 
General Assembly in moving the needle on food insecurity in Arkansas. 16
