CHILDREN TO SAVE DAY IN ARKANSAS. 15

WHEREAS, financial literacy is a fundamental life skill that empowers 17
individuals to make informed and responsible financial decisions, ensuring a 18
stable and secure future for themselves and their families; and 19
20
WHEREAS, Teach Children to Save Day, observed on April 24, 2025, is a 21
nationwide initiative that encourages parents, teachers, and caregivers to 22
educate young students on the importance of saving money and making smart 23
financial choices; and 24

WHEREAS, research has shown that early financial education helps 26
children develop critical skills such as budgeting, goal -setting, self-27
discipline, and delayed gratification, which are essential for long -term 28
financial success; and 29

WHEREAS, many adults struggle with managing their finances due to a 31
lack of early education on the topic, making it imperative that we instill 32
strong financial habits in our children from an early age to foster a 33
generation of financially responsible and independent citizens; and 34

WHEREAS, through collaboration with local businesses, schools, and 36 HR1107

banks, we make an essential investment in the state’s economy by 1
strengthening financial literacy and ensuring our students are prepared for a 2
future of financial independence and security; and 3

WHEREAS, Arkansas bank representatives serve on the Arkansas Financial 5
Education Commission, which is charged with responding to our state’s need 6
for access to free educational resources that will help Arkansans in all 7
geographic areas and from all socioeconomic backgrounds achieve financial 8
well-being, 9

NOW THEREFORE, 11
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 12
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 13

THAT the House of Representatives proclaim April 24, 2025, as Teach 15
Children to Save Day in Arkansas to encourage all citizens to support 16
financial education efforts that equip Arkansas children with the knowledge 17
and skills to become responsible stewards of their financial futures. 18
