BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 18

SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 23 -79-140(a), concerning the definitions 20
used for coverage for mammograms and breast ultrasounds, is amended to add an 21
additional subdivision to read as follows: 22
(11)(A) "Supplemental breast examination" means a medically 23
necessary and appropriate examination of the breast, according to National 24
Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines, that is: 25
(i) Used to screen for breast cancer when there is 26
no abnormality seen or suspected; and 27
(ii) Based on personal or family medical history or 28
additional factors that increase the individual's risk of breast cancer, 29
including heterogeneously or extremely dense breasts. 30
(B) "Supplemental breast examination" includes without 31
limitation: 32
(i) An examination using contrast -enhanced 33
mammography; 34
(ii) Breast magnetic resonance imaging; 35

(iv) Molecular breast imaging. 1

SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 23 -79-140(e)(3), concerning an insured's 3
cost-sharing requirements for coverage for diagnostic breast examinations for 4
breast cancer, is amended to read as follows: 5
(3) A healthcare insurer shall ensure that an individual's cost -6
sharing requirement under a health benefit plan that is applicable to a 7
provides coverage for diagnostic breast examination for breast cancer, 8
including breast magnetic resonance imaging, is no less favorable than the 9
cost-sharing requirement that is applicable to a screening examination for 10
breast cancer examinations, examinations for breast cancer, and supplemental 11
breast examinations shall not impose any cost-sharing requirements . 12
