VARIOUS CITY OFFICIALS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 12

TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING VARIOUS 16
PROVISIONS OF TITLE 24 OF THE ARKANSAS 17
CODE; AND TO AMEND THE LAW REGARDING THE 18
PAYMENT OF RETIREMENT BENEFITS TO 19
VARIOUS CITY OFFICIALS. 20

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 22

SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-120(c), concerning payment of 24
retirement benefits to city attorneys in cities of the first class and cities 25
of the second class, is amended to read as follows: 26
(c) All payments of retirement benefits under this section shall be 27
payable monthly and shall be paid from the general funds of by the city. 28

SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-121(b)(2), concerning retirement 30
payments to city clerks and clerk -treasurers, is amended to read as follows: 31
(2) The retirement pay shall be paid by the city from its 32
general fund account . 33

SECTION 3. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-122(b)(2), concerning retirement 35
payments to deputy city clerks, is amended to read as follows: 36 As Engrossed: S3/31/25 SB153

(2) The retirement pay shall be paid by the city from its 1
general fund account when appropriated for that purpose by the governing body 2
of the city. 3

SECTION 4. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-123(a)(2), concerning retirement 5
payments to mayors of cities of the first class, is amended to read as 6
follows: 7
(2) The retirement payments shall be paid monthly and shall be 8
paid from the city general fund by the city. 9

SECTION 5. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-125(b)(2), concerning retirement 11
payments to treasurers of cities of the first class, is amended to read as 12
follows: 13
(2) Upon approval by the governing body of the city, the 14
retirement pay shall be paid by the city from its general fund account . 15

SECTION 6. Arkansas Code § 24 -12-127(b)(2), concerning retirement 17
payments to recorder -treasurers and city treasurers of cities of the second 18
class, is amended to read as follows: 19
(2) The retirement pay shall be paid by the city from its 20
general fund account . 21
