AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE FILING PERIODS 9 
OF CERTAIN NONPARTISAN SCHOOL BOARD AND MUNICIPAL 10 
CANDIDATES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 11

TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE FILING 15 
PERIODS OF CERTAIN NONPARTISAN SCHOOL 16 
BOARD AND MUNICIPAL CANDIDATES. 17

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 19 
 20 
 SECTION 1.  Arkansas Code § 6 -14-111(e)(1)(B), concerning the candidate 21 
filing procedures for school board elections, is amended to read as follows: 22 
 (B)  During a one-week period beginning at 12:00 noon and 23 
ending at 12:00 noon ninety (90) days before a school election held in 24 
November. 25

 SECTION 2.  Arkansas Code § 14 -42-206(b)(1), concerning nominating 27 
petitions for municipal elections, is amended to read as follows: 28 
 (b)(1)  Any person desiring to become an independent candidate for 29 
municipal office in cities and towns with the mayor -council form of 30 
government shall file his or her petition during a one -week period beginning 31 
at 12:00 noon and ending at 12:00 noon ninety (90) days before the general 32 
election with the county clerk. 33

 SECTION 3.  Arkansas Code § 14 -47-110(a)(2), concerning the election of 35 
directors in a city manager form of government, is amended to read as 36    	SB270

 (2)  The petition mentioned in subdivision (a)(3) of this section 2 
supporting the candidacy of each candidate to be voted upon at any general or 3 
special election shall be filed with the city clerk or recorder during a one	-4 
week period beginning at 12:00 noon and ending at 12:00 noon ninety (90) days 5 
before the election; 6

 SECTION 4.  Arkansas Code § 14 -48-109(a)(4), concerning the election of 8 
directors and mayor in a city administrator form of government, is amended to 9 
read as follows: 10 
 (4)  The statement of candidacy and the petition for nomination 11 
supporting the candidacy of each candidate to be voted upon at any general or 12 
special election shall be filed with the city clerk or recorder during the 13 
one-week period beginning at 12:00 noon and ending at 12:00 noon ninety (90) 14 
days before the general election; 15
