2119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 17

2321 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 1 -4-133 is amended to read as follows: 19
2422 1-4-133. Display of national motto — Display of the Ten Commandments . 20
2523 (a)(1) If funds under subsection (b) of this section are available, 21
26-local school superintendents, local government building administrators, or 22
27-chief administrators of the public schools in this state, or institutions of 23
28-higher education, or their respective designees, and the administrative 24
29-officials of state agencies, or their respective designees, shall prominently 25
30-display the following in a conspicuous place in a location described in 26
31-subdivision (a)(2) of this section a durable poster or framed copy 27
32-containing: 28
24+local school district superintendents, local government building 22
25+administrators, or chief administrators of the public schools in this state, 23
26+or institutions of higher education, or their respective designees, and the 24
27+administrative officials of state agencies, or their respective designees, 25
28+shall prominently display the following in a conspicuous place in a location 26
29+described in subdivision (a)(2) of this section a durable poster or framed 27
30+copy containing: 28
3331 (A)(i) The A durable poster or framed copy of the national 29
3432 motto of the United States, “In God We Trust”. 30
3533 (ii) The national motto shall: 31
3634 (a) Be easily readable on a poster or framed 32
3735 copy of at least eleven inches by fourteen inches (11 ″ x 14″); 33

43+ (C) An accurate representation of the Arkansas state flag 3

45+ (D)(i) A durable poster or framed copy of the Ten 5
46+Commandments. 6
47+ (ii) The durable poster or framed copy of the Ten 7
48+Commandments required by subdivision (a)(1)(D)(i) of this section shall: 8
49+ (a) Include the text of the Ten Commandments 9
50+in a size and typeface that is legible to a person with average vision from 10
51+anywhere in the room in which the durable poster or framed copy is displayed; 11
52+and 12
53+ (b) Be at least sixteen inches by twenty 13
54+inches (16" x 20"). 14
55+ (iii) The text of the durable poster or framed copy 15
56+of the Ten Commandments shall read as follows: 16

59+Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 19

66+Thou shalt not commit adultery. 26

68+Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. 28
69+Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house. 29
70+Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his 30
71+maidservant, nor his cattle, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.". 31
72+ (2) The durable posters or framed copies donated or purchased 32
73+under subdivision (a)(1) of this section shall be displayed in each: 33
74+ (A) Public institution of higher education and elementary 34
75+and secondary school library and classroom in this state; and 35

46-under subdivision (a)(1)(A)(i) of this section shall include: 2

50-Arkansas state flag or flags ; and 6
51- (B)(i) A durable poster or framed copy of a historical 7
52-representation of the Ten Commandments . 8
53- (ii) The durable poster or framed copy of a 9
54-historical representation of the Ten Commandments required by subdivision 10
55-(a)(1)(B)(i) of this section shall: 11
56- (a) Include the text of the Ten Commandments 12
57-in a size and typeface that is legible to a person with average vision from 13
58-anywhere in the room in which the durable poster or framed copy is displayed; 14
59-and 15

85- (A) Public institution of higher education and elementary 1
86-and secondary school library and classroom in this state; and 2
87- (B) Public building or facility in this state that is 3
88-maintained or operated by taxpayer funds. 4
89- (b) The copies or posters authorized under this section shall either 5
90-be donated or shall be purchased solely with funds made available through 6
91-voluntary contributions to the local school boards, local building governing 7
92-entity, or the Building Authority Division. 8
93- (c) If a copy or poster required under this section does not meet the 9
94-requirements of subsection (a) of this section, then an institution specified 10
95-under subsection (a) of this section may replace the copy or poster with a 11
96-copy or poster that meets the requirements of subsection (a) of this section: 12
97- (1) With public funds; or 13
98- (2) By accepting a private donation. 14
99- (d) If an institution specified under subsection (a) of this section 15
100-has a copy or poster that is not needed for display, then the institution 16
101-specified under subsection (a) of this section shall donate the copy or 17
102-poster to another institution specified under subsection (a) of this section. 18
