27	27	BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 25

29	29	SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 27 -14-1705(b), concerning the validity of a 27
30	30	temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker issued to the purchaser of 28
31	31	a motor vehicle, is amended to add an additional subdivision to read as 29
32	32	follows: 30
33	33	(3)(A) A person who has obtained a preprinted paper buyer's tag 31
34	34	and sticker under subsection (a) or subdivision (b)(2) of this section may 32
35	35	apply to the Office of Motor Vehicle for one (1) additional temporary 33
36	36	preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker if the person: 34
37	37	(i) Pays the fee for a temporary preprinted paper 35
38	38	buyer's tag and sticker under subdivision (f)(1)(A) of this section; 36 SB561

41	41	(ii) Provides proof to the Office of Motor Vehicle 1
42	42	that the person has: 2
43	43	(a) Assessed the motor vehicle for which the 3
44	44	temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker was issued; and 4
45	45	(b) Paid any personal property taxes due on 5
46	46	the motor vehicle for which the temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag and 6
47	47	sticker was issued; 7
48	48	(iii) Applies for the additional temporary 8
49	49	preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker allowed under this subdivision 9
50	50	(b)(3)(A) before the expiration of the temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag 10
51	51	and sticker issued under subsection (a) or subdivision (b)(2) of this 11
52	52	section; and 12
53	53	(iv) Has not received a permanent license plate 13
54	54	issued for the motor vehicle at the time of application. 14
55	55	(B) An additional temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag 15
56	56	and sticker issued under subdivision (b)(3)(A) of this section shall expire 16
57	57	thirty (30) calendar days from the date that the additional temporary 17
58	58	preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker was issued. 18

60	60	SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 27 -14-1705(i), concerning penalties for the 20
61	61	misuse of a temporary preprinted paper buyer's tag and sticker issued to the 21
62	62	purchaser of a motor vehicle, is amended to add an additional subdivision to 22
63	63	read as follows: 23
64	64	(4) A buyer who pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found 24
65	65	guilty of continuing to display a temporary preprinted buyer's tag and 25
66	66	sticker after the expiration date of the temporary preprinted buyer's tag and 26
67	67	sticker shall be fined: 27
68	68	(A) One hundred dollars ($100) for the first offense; and 28
69	69	(B) Two hundred fifty dollars ($250) for the second and 29
70	70	subsequent offenses. 30
