HEAD COACH JOE GREGORY'S WIFE, CYNTHIA 20

 WHEREAS, the Mills University Studies High School Lady Comets 23 
basketball team won the Class 4A conference championship and made it to the 24 
semifinals of the Class 4A state championship tournament, pressing through 25 
and finishing strong for Head Coach Joe Gregory after the tragic death of his 26 
wife, Cynthia Gregory, in January 2025; and 27 
 28 
 WHEREAS, the 2024-2025 season of the Lady Comets basketball team ended 29 
with a loss to De Queen in the semifinals of the Class 4A state championship 30 
tournament, but the Lady Comets endured and accomplished so much during this 31 
extraordinary season and emerged with a number of school records; and 32 
 33 
 WHEREAS, for the Lady Comets, this was the first twenty -win season in 34 
eighteen (18) years, the first conference championship in eighteen (18) 35 
years, the first regional championship in program history, and the first 36    	SCR8

state championship semifinals appearance in program history; and 1

 WHEREAS, the Lady Comets finished the season with twenty wins and ten 3 
losses (20-10); and 4

 WHEREAS, Lady Comets team members are Da'Nyia Barton, Jeneva Gregory, 6 
Kaliyah Sanders, Jermera Streets, Kirsten Johnson, Ambreal Tenner, Amiya 7 
Love, Kendillie Warren, La'Zariyah Sanders, Ma'Kenzie King, Sidney Leeper, 8 
Savannah Anderson, and Makenzie Jackson; and 9 
 10 
 WHEREAS, team members Kirsten Johnson and Jermera Streets earned All	-11 
State Honors; and 12 
 13 
 WHEREAS, team members Kirsten Johnson, Jermera Streets, Jeneva Gregory, 14 
and Ambreal Tenner earned All -Conference Honors; and 15 
 16 
 WHEREAS, the Lady Comets were led by Head Coach Joe Gregory and 17 
Assistant Coaches Jasmine Hampton, George Ray, and Toni Clardy; and 18 
 19 
 WHEREAS, Head Coach Joe Gregory said of the win and the season, 20 
"Winning is a culture that is fueled by effort, determination, and 21 
confidence. Anything worth having will never come easy, which makes winning a 22 
high priority in every aspect of life", 23

NOW THEREFORE, 25 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 26 
STATE OF ARKANSAS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN: 27 
 28 
 THAT the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring therein, 29 
recognize the Mills University Studies High School Lady Comets basketball 30 
team as the Class 4A conference champions and remember Head Coach Joe 31 
Gregory's wife, Cynthia Gregory. 32 
 33 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 34 
presented to Head Coach Joe Gregory by the Secretary of the Senate. 35
