22	22	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. was born on September 18, 1962, and died on 20
23	23	February 11, 2024; and 21

25	25	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and after 23
26	26	graduating from Southside High School, graduated from the Sam M. Walton 24
27	27	College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville; and 25

29	29	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. attended the University of Tulsa College of 27
30	30	Law and served for two (2) years on the Tulsa Law Review before graduating 28
31	31	with his Juris Doctorate in 1987; and 29

33	33	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr.'s career as a lifelong public servant began 31
34	34	in Washington, D.C. working as the Chief of Staff for former United States 32
35	35	Congressman Jay Dickey; and 33

37	37	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. returned to his beloved state to serve the 35
38	38	State of Arkansas under Governor Mike Huckabee as the Director of the 36 SMR1

43	43	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. was called back into national service in 3
44	44	helping to oversee the 2000 Florida recount on behalf of the Bush -Cheney 4
45	45	campaign; and 5

47	47	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr.'s institutional knowledge was recognized by 7
48	48	many and he was asked to and served as the Chief of Staff to former 8
49	49	Congressman Jim McCrery; and 9

51	51	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr.'s understanding and experience in national 11
52	52	politics was invaluable to others and Bob became a partner at Capitol Counsel 12
53	53	LLC, a Washington, D.C. lobbying and advocacy firm; and 13

55	55	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. worked hard but found time to cheer on the 15
56	56	University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Razorback sports teams and to spend 16
57	57	time golfing and horse racing; and 17

59	59	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr.'s heart never left the State of Arkansas 19
60	60	and in 2020 Bob returned to Arkansas to be closer to his family; and 20

62	62	WHEREAS, Attorney General Tim Griffin named Bob R. Brooks, Jr. as Chief 22
63	63	Deputy Attorney General in 2023; and 23

65	65	WHEREAS, Attorney General Tim Griffin, stated "As my Chief Deputy, he 25
66	66	was unrivaled in his intellect, strength of character, work ethic and love 26
67	67	for Arkansans, our office and the dozens of staff he led and managed"; and 27

69	69	WHEREAS, United States Congressman French Hill stated on the floor of 29
70	70	the United States House of Representatives "Bob was a dedicated public 30
71	71	servant who represented all that is good in Arkansas through his 31
72	72	professionalism, his wit, and his great sense of humor"; and 32

74	74	WHEREAS, both Attorney General Tim Griffin and Congressman French Hill 34
75	75	counted Bob R. Brooks, Jr. as a dear friend is greatly missed; and 35

79	79	WHEREAS, the building formerly known as the Boyle Building will now be 1
80	80	known as the Bob R. Brooks, Jr. Justice Building and once the renovation is 2
81	81	complete will house the Attorney General and the staff offices as a lasting 3
82	82	tribute to his distinguished career and his impact on the state he deeply 4
83	83	loved; and 5

85	85	WHEREAS, while Bob R. Brooks, Jr. cherished his work as a public 7
86	86	servant, he was most proud of serving as "Uncle Bob" to his nephew Ryan 8
87	87	Brooks Curry, and a dedicated son to his parents Bob and Cindy Brooks; and 9

89	89	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. is survived by his parents, his sister, 11
90	90	Sabra Brooks Curry, his great nephew, Rex Grayson Curry, and many other 12
91	91	family members in Fort Smith; and 13

93	93	WHEREAS, Bob R. Brooks, Jr. was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin 15
94	94	Patrick Brooks, his grandparents, Prentiss and Pearl Brooks and Joe and 16
95	95	Martha Rowene Jones; and 17

97	97	WHEREAS, the United States and the State of Arkansas are blessed to 19
98	98	have been served by Bob R. Brooks, Jr. in his capacity as a loyal and 20

103	103	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 25

106	106	THAT the Senate recognize Bob R. Brooks, Jr. for his dedication and 28
107	107	service to the State of Arkansas and to the United States. 29

109	109	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be 31
110	110	provided by the Secretary of the Senate to Bob and Cindy Brooks. 32
