2020 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., is a historically African 18
2121 American fraternity and was founded on Thursday, September 19, 1963, at 19
2222 Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland; and 20

2424 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., is currently the fifth 22
2525 largest Black Greek-letter fraternity with over seventy -five thousand 23
2626 (75,000) members worldwide; and 24

2828 WHEREAS, today there are over three hundred fifty (350) undergraduate 26
2929 and alumni chapters of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., located in forty (40) 27
3030 states, the District of Columbia, the Bahamas, Colombia, South Korea, and 28

3333 WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas currently has five (5) undergraduate 31
3434 chapters of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and two (2) alumni chapters; and 32

3636 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., holds membership in the 34
3737 National Pan-Hellenic Council, an umbrella organization commonly referred to 35
3838 as the "Divine Nine", which is composed of international historically African 36 SR38

4141 American Greek-letter sororities and fraternities; and 1

4343 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., is in partnership with the 3
4444 Brown & Gold Public Affairs Committee, focused on supporting public policy 4
4545 and law that affirms, supports, and expands the citizenship rights of 5
4646 fraternity members in accordance with the fraternity’s principles, and by 6
4747 extension residents of the community; and 7

4949 WHEREAS, members of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., are currently 9
5050 serving or have served in public service in the great State of Arkansas, 10
5151 including Brother Dr. D’Andre Jones, City Councilman, Fayetteville, District 11
