WHEREAS, all children in Arkansas should have access to the highest 18
quality education possible; and 19

WHEREAS, Arkansas recognizes the important role that an effective 21
education plays in preparing all students in Arkansas to be successful 22
adults; and 23

WHEREAS, quality education is critically important to the economic 25
vitality of Arkansas; and 26
27
WHEREAS, in 2023 Arkansas committed itself to no longer settling for 28
languishing educational outcomes for students and passed the bold, 29
conservative reform legislation known as the LEARNS Act; and 30

WHEREAS, the future of Arkansas education is "student first" and 32
empowers parents to make the best educational decisions for their families; 33
and 34

WHEREAS, Arkansas is home to a multitude of high -quality public and 36 SR5

nonpublic schools from which parents can choose for their children, in 1
addition to offering the choice for families to educate their children in the 2
home; and 3

WHEREAS, educational variety not only helps to diversify our economy, 5
but it also enhances the vibrancy of our community; and 6

WHEREAS, Arkansas has many high -quality teaching professionals in all 8
types of school settings who are committed to educating our children; and 9

WHEREAS, National School Choice Week is celebrated across the country 11
by millions of students, parents, educators, schools, and organizations to 12
raise awareness of the need for effective educational options, 13

NOW THEREFORE, 15
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 16
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 17

THAT the Senate commemorate and recognize National School Choice Week 19
during the week of January 26-February 1 in the great State of Arkansas. 20
