2626 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international, not -for-profit 24
2727 corporation established in 1946 by Margaret Rosell Hawkins and Sarah 25

3030 WHEREAS, the membership of The Links, Incorporated consists of more 28
3131 than seventeen thousand (17,000) professional women of African descent in two 29
3232 hundred ninety-nine (299) chapters found in forty -one (41) states, the 30
3333 District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United 31
3434 Kingdom; and 32

3636 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation's oldest and 34
3737 largest volunteer service organizations, made up of extraordinary women 35

4343 WHEREAS, the chapters of The Links, Incorporated collectively know the 3
4444 importance of their motto, "Our VOICE. Our VOTE. Our POWER."; and 4

4646 WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated are influential decision 6
4747 makers, opinion leaders, and distinguished achievers; and 7

4949 WHEREAS, the programs of The Links, Incorporated are implemented 9

5353 (3) National trends and services; 13
5454 (4) International trends and services; and 14

5757 WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated contribute over one million 17
5858 (1,000,000) service hours annually and have donated one -million-dollar grants 18
5959 to six (6) organizations, including St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 19
6060 the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, 20

6363 WHEREAS, the Arkansas chapters of The Links, Incorporated are made up 23
6464 of women who continue to work hard to ensure that their communities are 24

6868 Pine Bluff, and Northwest Arkansas chapters of The Links, Incorporated; and 28

7171 1956, the Pine Bluff chapter began in 1969, and the Northwest Arkansas 31

8181 WHEREAS, the projects of the Little Rock chapter of The Links, 3

8383 (1) A mentoring program at J.A. Fair K -8 Preparatory School; 5
8484 (2) Health and wellness education and intervention programs 6
8585 focusing on chronic kidney disease and maternal childbirth mortality in the 7
8686 Black community; and 8
8787 (3) Donating over two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) in 9
8888 scholarships to female African American high school seniors and two hundred 10
8989 thousand dollars ($200,000) to the four (4) historically Black colleges and 11
9090 universities in Arkansas; and 12

9292 WHEREAS, the projects of the Pine Bluff chapter of The Links, 14
9393 Incorporated include: 15
9494 (1) Bullying prevention and intervention strategies; 16
9595 (2) Educating students about the vast career choices beyond the 17
9696 United States with a goal of creating a future job pool of young minority 18
9797 students focused on careers in international business and foreign affairs; 19

9999 (3) Promoting health and wellness for youth through dental 21

102102 WHEREAS, the projects of the Northwest Arkansas chapter of The Links, 24

104104 (1) Assisting the transition of young women who have aged out of 26

106106 (2) Assessing the needs of abused children of color and then 28
107107 donating friendship dolls to support play therapy at a local child advocacy 29
108108 center; and 30
109109 (3) Hosting an art workshop to educate children through grade six 31
110110 (6) on Black artists and works of art; and 32

112112 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has identified four (4) priorities for 34

126126 Legislative Day at the State Capitol, and recognize The Links, Incorporated 10
