HB 2052: defensive driving school fund; report
Sponsor: Representative Wilmeth, LD 15
Committee on Transportation
Overview
Requires the State Treasurer to prepare an annual report accounting for where money in the
Defensive Driving School Fund (Fund) is invested and the amount of money credited to the Fund
from investments.
History
The Fund is established consisting of money collected from the fee established by the Arizona
Supreme Court for a person attending a defensive driving school. The monies in the Fund will be
used, subject to legislative appropriation, to supervise the use of defensive driving schools
throughout the state and to expedite the processing of traffic and driving under the influence
offenses. The Fund is not subject to reversion. On notice from the Supreme Court, the State
Treasurer will invest and divest monies in the Fund, and monies earned from investments will be
credited to the Fund (A.R.S. §§ 28-3397, 28-3398).
